Sukritact's Events and Decisions

I hadn't read this thread and I just got the Eiffel Tower event, that was just delightful.

Sidenote : the new "Gift to the State event" works fine for me except that in the popup, it doesn't tell you what you're going to get, instead it reiterates the flavor text (when highliting an option). Not a big deal, but did anyone else have this problem ?

Is this system considered balanced? Many of the decisions available for factions seem amazing, while others feel a bit meh. For example Carthage (the civ I play the most) gets the Hanno's Voyage decision, which feels amazing - for the price of a settler and a magistrate you get a settler a great admiral and two ships, one per era. But their once per game bonus - Expand the Cothons - adds just 1 gold to the harbors for a grave price of I think 900 gold (depends on era probably) which feels extremely lackluster.

I cannot speak for all civs obviously, but for example Netherlands get 2 additional trade routes, which is great and feels amazing. Of course the bonuses can never be perfectly balanced, but it could still benefit from a revision.

One would assume that balance was kept in mind when creating these decisions. I guess it's hard for overall community input without a cohesive wiki that describes each of the Civ's decisions and what it is that they do.

Please answer my dumb newbie question.... where to I place the files after install? I have Civ 5 BNW on Steam.

Download the file to the MODS folder in Documents/my games/Civilization V and using a program such as 7Zip or Winrar, extract "Events and Decisions.7z" to it's own folder.

Expand the Cothons does seem a bit uncertain, but if you are going super expansive, which seems like a good idea with Carthage, with 10 cities it'll pay for itself in an era or two. (especially if you're using JFD's revised Carthage, since the Cothons are pretty excellent and are available even earlier)

Minor bug with Portugal's decision! Casa de India doesn't seem to check for if you're in the Medieval era, and so you're able to enact it pretty much whenever. Specially with CulDiv where you have cash from the start and it's an option from turn 1.

I'll be filling this up over the next couple of days. Feel free to comment on balance if you feel something is UP/OP.

I'll be buffing the Cothon decision in the next update then and will be revamping Venice's.

Can you make sure you have the latest version? I believe I've fixed this already.

Hello, sukritact. When I enact "Patronise the Theatres"(Japan), I cannot receive a Great Musician.

I'm using this mod as part of the Community Balance Patch, & I can honestly say it is *brilliant*-definitely adds a lot of flavour to the game. I was wondering though, to what extent do you see yourself expanding the Events portion of the mod? (decisions are already brilliant IMHO).

Aussie.

sukritact,

I'm seeing this error in quite a few of the lua logs while debugging the CBP. Any idea what's causing this?

Code:
Runtime Error: ~\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\Events and Decisions\Core\Decisions\Civ Decisions\CivDecisions.lua:851: attempt to index a nil value

FYI, since this will rely on Whoward's DLL (or the Community Patch), I will be releasing this as an additional add-on as opposed to integrating it directly into E&D.
