The game I've just given up was a map generated after a 36 hour mapfinder run. Since I'm headed out of town, Mapfinder's going to get to run for almost five days. I anticipate some nice candidates.

If not, I haven't deleted the .sav's...

You it's funny that you pointed that out. The tech pace was slower than I hoped for but was faster than I'm used to on Monarch. Since it's not a bad start, I should at least wait out the anarchy and see what Communism has to offer production-wise before deciding whether or not to kill the game.

That's strange... I had steam power around 600 AD (620 AD IIRC) in my monarch level game. But maybe I got just lucky (plus I had all the first tier MA techs for free, just like steam power).

Or maybe you do a better job with opening sequences and get to 4 turn research much faster than I do. Okay, there's no maybe about it. I've read your threads and looked at your .sav's. You actually do far better on research than I do.

By the way, I got out of anarchy and really liked what I saw. I'm going to resume the game...

Thanks, although I have to admit I'm alternating between it and more new maps. I figure if I flip through enough different games I'll eventually come up with one I'm happy with...say by 2006? I can't believe just how demanding/indecisive I'm being of myself and my maps...

I've got a solid new game going on but I'm really scared to post about it. Every game I've posted about so far I've wound up abandoning. Call me superstitious, but trying for this has been very weird...
