No need to apologize, I make mistakes too. As long as we agree on what moves are made everything is well.

Last couple of moves I didn't spend much time on chiefly because I have been a little buisy and was pretty much winning.

Now when I have a little more time I spent an hour thinking about this position and I see no way for you to make any progress.

So let me speed up the process a little.

I will use my King to collect your pawns on the Kingside and the only chance you have is to create something with your three Queenside pawns and the King.

Let's examine the possibilities.

Plan A: If you play 29. g5 I'll respond with 29... fxg5+ You'll have to play 30. fxg5 not to lose a pawn immediately and then I'll play 30...Kd6. I think we can see that this moveorder is disasterous for you since your King is now tied down to the defense of your g-pawn. It's completely losing.

Plan B: So let's try 29. f5, I'll respond with 29...gxf5. After 30. gxf5 Nd6 31. Kg4 Nxc4 my King and pawn will have no problems holding against your 2 pawns while moves such as a5 and Nb2 will create a passed pawn on the a-file. Completely losing.

Plan C: Last pawn move to create something for you, 29. e4 will be followed by 29...Kd6. Nothing I can see works:

30. g5 fxg5 31. fxg5 Ke5 this is hopeless
30. f5 g5+ 31. Kh5 Ne5 if the King ever moves Nxg4 will protect the f-pawn and there's nothing you can do
30. e5+ fxe5 31. fxe5+ Kxe5 completely losing
30. c5+ Kxc5 and there's not much change in the above moves

Any other moves, like 29. c5 perhaps, I'll go get your c-pawn with my King (29...Kd7) and there's no change in the above analysis.

So, follow any of the moveorders I gave unless you have something else in mind that I've missed.

(And next game, be more careful with your Knights.)

Well, you've obviously put some thought into the situation. I do agree with you on one thing: things aren't looking good for me now. However, I don't think that things are looking that great for you either!

True, you could go pawn collecting with your king, but that would leave two pawns and a knight outnumbered by three pawns and a king. I would probably find a way to get one through and a queen would change everything.

I try to play honorably, the moment I am convinced I'm going to lose, I will resign to prevent wasting your time. However, as long as I see a chance at winning, or even stalemate, I'll play on.

If you want to mutually consider this game a stalemate/draw, I'll live with that. If not, then let's keep making moves and see what happens:

20. c4 dxc4
21. bxc4 Rxd1
22. Rxd1 Rd8
23. Rxd8+ Kxd8
24. Kh3 Nh6
25. f3 Ke7
26. g4 hxg4
27. fxg4 f6
28. Kh4 Nf7
29. e4

EDIT: sorry it took so long to reply, I wanted to think about what you posted.

Hey, no offence meant. I wasn't trying to convince you to give up, and especially not so if you think you still have a chance to win or draw.

I had some extra time, thought about the situation and gave my thoughts on the matter. Also a few moveorders that you could follow to make a few more moves at once.

If you want to make one move a a time that's fine with me (I assume because you didn't make my next move). No more "if then" statements from now on then if you prefer.

If my analysis was out of order, then I apologize for that. It was just my thoughts, I like when people give their thoughts on the game and I did have a lot of time then and nothing much to do. Perhaps others don't like that, didn't consider that. If so, I'm sorry.

If you want to mutually consider this game a stalemate/draw, I'll live with that.

I'm sure you would. Especially since I'm completely winning. :)

But please, play as many moves as you want. I like playing with you, regardless if I win or lose. I have played against many people that I hated playing against, some that I won against, some that I lost against. You're not one of them, quite the contrary, so you're definately not wasting my time no matter how many moves we play or what the position on the board is.

Once again, I'm sorry if I somehow gave you the impression I wanted you to give up... it was not my intention in any way. I just gave my analysis and a few moveorders so that you could make a couple of moves at once. But as I said, one at a time is fine too.

So can I please have a less angry tone in your next post, okay? :p

Edit: Long post, had a few things I needed to adjust and I didn't want to take up a whole page with another one of these. :)

Your analysis was by no means out of order. I welcome feedback since I'm trying to improve. And by no means did I take any offence, so I accept your apologies and I regret if my tone was 'angry'.:(

The text communication (internet, email, etc) is that it's impossible to judge someone's body language, all I meant to do was throw in my two cents worth. It is a drawback of playing online, but then again the advantage is being able to play with someone on another continent, so I'll redouble my efforts on tone.;)

Posting extra moves is perfectly fine by me. It's just coincidence that I've made ones other than anticipated most of the time. As a matter of fact, I may try and get in that habit myself now that I'm comfortable with the notation...well that and putting my pieces in accurate/safer positions in WinBoard.

30. c3
If Kd6 or Nd6, then c5.

It would be foolish of me to say what chance I see, but I don't mind saying that my resignation in less than ten moves wouldn't be a shock either...

The "angry tone" part was a bit sarcastic, as denoted by my :p smiley.

If Kd6 or Nd6, then c5.

As you may notice I made Kd6 in move 29 which kind of prevents the Nd6 move at this time... If my picture attatchment works, this should be the position after 30...Kc5 (from my side of the board).

30. c3 Kc5

   :(
That's what I get for typing at five in the morning. At least I didn't put a lone suicidal knight out of place!:p

30. c3 Kc5
31. e5
If 4xe5, then f5.

30. c3 Kc5
31. e5 fxe5

4xe5? Hehe... ehm.... wake up...

If you do indeed play 32. f5 then I'll capture your pawn with 32...gxf5. After that, on 33. g5 I'll play 33...Nxg5 or if 33. gxf5 I'll play 33... Kxc4.

Okay, I think I'm awake now. Funny thing is that I work night shift, so I'm out of synch with my own time zone! That's one of the reasons I prefer playing with you since you're on the other side of the pond...

30. c3 Kc5
31. e5 fxe5
32. f5 gxf5
33. gxf5 Kxc4
34. Kh5

30. c3 Kc5
31. e5 fxe5
32. f5 gxf5
33. gxf5 Kxc4
34. Kh5 e4
35. Kg6 Nd6
36. White offers resignation and handshake...

That move kills the oppurtunity I thought I saw. If I don't advance the f5 pawn, it's worth losing the Knight over as you'd have a pawn/queen before my King might catch up. If I did advance the pawn, it would block the King's most direct path to the Knight, again giving you time to Queen.

Well, I made it past fifteen moves....

Yes, I was always going to sacriface my Knight on your last pawn. My King would then be closer to the remaining pawns and the fact that you had doubled pawns there didn't help you in any way...

The fact that the pawn would block your King's approach has very little importance, this can be illustrated by giving you four moves in a row. As long as at least two moves are King moves, I'll still win.

The loss of the Knight was of course really bad. Since you were down the exchange, your 14:th move was probably bad. When down material, don't exchange pieces. And move 20 which gave you doubled pawns AND a Rook trade was also kind of bad.

I'm ready for a rematch whenever you want.
