So, what should you do when your supposed ALLY [AI] goes to war against a city-state that you are the Suzerain of? You can't denounce him, and if you get into it, it's egregious . . . So, what do you do?

I've whined about this before but Protectorate War CB should be available out of the gate. Early Empire at the very latest.

Alliance deals should include suzerain CSs. You shouldn't be able to declare war in the Suzerain of one of your allies,

This...I call it the meatshield. Do it if the city state is near the AI because there's a very high chance they will invade it.

Make sure there are no openings because the City State will treat it as a siege (City Health does not recover) eventhough it's ally units surrouding the city and AI will just bombard the city's health to Zero and capture it through the opening.

Agree 100%. Hopefully with alliances being expanded upon in the expansion, they'll add this.

I protected dear Auckland for over an era doing that. When my alliance with Australia (HUH!) ran out, I was finally able to denounce and use Protectorate War.
