390 AD? Well the turns are all hosed up. I'll just play 10 and not bother trying to get this back on a usual cycle.
Diplomacy overview:
· Rome: 29 cities, 728 gold, +84 gold per turn
· Spain: 18 gold, 5 cities, Up: Literature, Republic, Monotheism, Feudalism, Peace deal for another 4 turns
· Byzantines: 19 gold, 8 cities, Up: Literature, Down: Currency, Construction
· England: 20 gold, 8 cities, Up: Literature, Republic, Monotheism, Feudalism, Peace deal for another 13 turns
· Vikings: 43 gold, 14 cities, Up: Literature, Republic, Monotheism, Feudalism, Engineering
Interestingly, we can only see 10 Viking cities. They have another 4 somewhere. The English city of Dover can also not be found on our current map.
I don't know if I have ever played a game with this little culture:
Our entire civilization makes 6 culture per turn: the Palace and two Temples. With our considerable income, I plan on rushing many Temples. We are going to have cities flipping very frequently unless we make an immediate and dedication effort to turn this around.
MM and build changes:
Change Veii: Settler -> Colosseum. We can't take any more land or else we cripple the AIs. Need culture.
Change Toledo: Legionary -> Temple. We have plenty of military for what we need to do in the near term.
Change Byzantium: Worker -> Temple.
Santiago, on the border with Spain, is empty and has no defenders.
Increase Luxury slider to 20% to compensate for cities with no MP and to shave 4 turns off of SoZ at Neapolis.
Change Pisae: Legionary -> Temple.
Change Viroconium: Legionary -> Temple.
Change Lutetia: Marketplace -> Temple. The halfway complete Marketplace here totally boggles me.
Change Warwick: Spearman -> Temple.
Change Caesaraugusta: Galley -> Temple.
Change Jerusalem: Catapult -> Temple.
Change Nicomedia: Settler -> Temple.
Change Artaxata: Archer -> Temple. Building units without a Barracks also boggles me.
Change Hippo Regius: Worker -> Temple.
Rushes:
Rush Temple at Caesaraugusta for 124 gold.
Rush Temple at Toledo for 152 gold.
Rush Temple at Lugdunum for 168 gold.
Rush Temple at Santiago for 176 gold.
Move workers, mainly trying to bring them back to our underdeveloped core instead of working our corrupt border cities.
Move military back to be defense and MP.

Toledo: Temple -> Galley in 15. All coastal cities with a Temple are going to do Galleys.
Santiago: Temple -> Barracks in 20. All land cities with a Temple are going to build some MP if they have a Barracks.
Pompeii: Harbor -> Temple in 12.
Lugdunum: Temple -> Barracks in 20.
Caesaraugusta: Temple -> Barracks in 20. Too corrupt for anything else.
(IT) Some Byzantine boats buzzing about.
(2)410 AD
Rome: Aqueduct -> Heroic Epic in 20. More leaders and some culture too.
Cumae: Galley -> Temple in 12.
Tarentum: Harbor -> Temple in 30.
Chivalry is now in play. The AI tech pace is going fine, I guess. It will go even better when we get the two continents talking to each other.
I think we want to let the other continent do the research, and then extract it from our continent's civs through warfare. The civs around us with less than 10 cities just won't be able to push ahead through Industrial and Modern techs.

Just some MM.
(IT) Byzantines move a Spearman into neutral territory, towards Hispalis. A Viking Galley moves towards the small two tile (plains + mountain) island near our core. Its not possible to land a unit of our own first.
(4)430 AD
Lutetia: Temple -> Galley in 8.
More MM.
(IT) Byzantine Spear moves into our territory. I bet he is heading to Sardica. Nothing else makes sense for a single Spearman with the balance of power between us and the Byzantines.
The Vikings get friendly:
I tell him no, and he moves his Galley next to Lutetia, but does not declare.
Own's error with the gold per turn deal comes back to annoy us:
We accept the Peace, and thus cannot declare war on Spain for 20 turns without breaking our reputation.
(5)440 AD
Get culture expansions from the first round of Temple rushes.
Viroconium: Temple -> Legionary in 4.
(IT)
Byzantine Spear and Galley move towards Sardica. Viking Galley moves next to Pompeii.
Our first wonder (and four culture per turn):
(6)450 AD
Neapolis: Statue of Zeus -> Temple in 12.
Liverpool: Worker -> Temple in 60.
The English begin Knights Templar as well.
Rush Temple at Jerusalem for 144 gold.
Rush Temple at Nicomedia for 132 gold.
(IT) The benefit of embassies:
We probably don't want this...
(7)450 AD
Palmrya: Temple -> Legionary in 4.
Jerusalem: Temple -> Harbor in 10.
Nicomedia: Temple -> Barracks in 10.
Lots of growth, so more MM.
(IT) Vikings move their Galleys about. Byzantine Spear has almost completed its trek. After four turns, we still haven't lost our suicide Galley (lost the Curragh after 2 turns at sea), but we also haven't seen any land.
(8)460 AD
Not much.
Rush Temple at Artaxata for 164 gold.
(IT) Just some Galleys moving about. A Byzantine Dromon pulls up next to Toledo, which is odd, because its on the complete opposite side of the continent from where the Byzantines are.
(9)470 AD
No idea how, but I lost track of this turn somehow.
(IT)
(10)480 AD
Hispalis: Temple -> Legionary in 8.
Viroconium: Legionary -> Legionary in 4.
Artaxata: Temple -> Barracks in 20.
The Galley finally finds something, but no borders are seen:
We've gone from 6 culture per turn to 32 culture per turn in 10 turns.
Notes:
· No war with Spain for another 15 turns or reputation is broken.
· Veii is MM'd for food as it will complete the Colosseum this turn. Should put it back on shields next turn.
· Workers around Nicomedia are trying to get irrigation down to Liverpool. This will require chopping the forests.
· Our cities should do Temple -> Barracks -> Legionary. We definitely will need more, as we're stretched very thin on defense and MP at the moment.
· I think it might be wise to go Builder mode for a bit, let our adversaries extend their tech lead a bit. Then, when we want techs like Monotheism and Engineering, and they're on Education and Gunpowder, they will easily give them up. Trying to extract monopoly techs when we can only take a city or two is impossible.
· Keep an eye on the Vikings-English war. England has taken the Viking city of Bergen.
· Keep pumping out galleys. We should try to explore that unknown area to the southeast of Scandanavia, but we'll get booted out of the territory as we go through England.
· Focus workers on the core, not corrupt border cities. Rome needs irrigation. Should chop a few forests and bring irrigation in from Veii.
· Forbidden Palace will complete in 20 turns. I've been making sure that it gets all of the good shield tiles.
