1. In the late '90s the final match against Finland in World Championship Hockey. They got Alex Dell as a referee and then Finland tied the game and Dell overruled/rejected/etc. (don't know the word) the goal and Sweden won the game. So how Swedes always get a dumb referee to Finlands matches if it seems like Finland-Sweden final (or IS):crazyeye:  (Or was it against Czech or Canada or Russia:hmm:, but anyway you'll get it)
2.Same again

Yes, let's get hold of some of that oil you have there and pay off our debts. You'd be the losers in such a deal:D

We can share :)

Anyway:

1. Snus!!

2. Cheap meat, tobacco and alcohol

...we have "snus" as well. Actually it's quite normal to "snus" in Norway... :)

Cheap meat, tobacco and alcohol, we don't have :(

Only a norwegian would think this, most people here complain about the prices and say it's much cheaper in Denmark

I know! And danish people drive to Germany :D

Beautiful blonde women.

2. What's typical for Sweden?

Sexual innuendo!

I agree on this, even the people my age. It's so weird, why are swedish woman attractive?

Blonde women.

Naked swiming. Ikea. Hot soda (it is freaky, I had it at Ikea once...once). Blue and yellow.

The still claim Åland to be part of their country...
Man, fingers itching for a flamewar here too :D

Some opinions/facts though...

Finland is said to have the biggest amount of blondes.

Sweden and Denmark are the most liberal countries in Scandinavia. Finland is more conservative. Thus Sweden and Denmark has had very lax immigration laws. Sweden is one of the countries who accept the most refugees per capita. I dont know why so many seem to think it's ethnically homogeneus

I have hard to imagine that Scandinavia would have the highest standard of living. Says who? Economic equality does not have much to do with actual standard of living...

Sweden lost to Belarus last year in hockey. BELARUS!   Finland on the other hand, has a good team.

What charaterizes Sweden is like many have said already, the liberalism and the beleif in socialism (the same party has dominated the political scene for 70 years) and neutrality.

But we beat you 2-0 in the football.

:)

Stop kidding yourself that hockey really matters, play a proper, international sport.

;)

WALES!!!

Neighbouring country. Kept Finland under their rule for centuries. The Finns were often their war axe and buffer against the Russia. Tried to dissipate Finnish national spirit. But that's in the past.

By their nature Swedes are happy, liberal, polite and friendly people, they make book, movies and plays about eating pastry in the "sunniest" table of cafeteria. They are expressive, but in a happy way - in contrary to the Finns, who's expression is often aggressive. They are not very individual by their character. Swedish TV-comedy is often about men dressing up as women. It's often said in Sweden are very beautiful women, which is true, but for some reason I don't find them appealing to me, as a rule.

Stockholm is a very beautiful city, could well be the most beautiful of the capitals of different countries I've seen. Well, perhaps Prague was even better but still.

The Finns and the Swedes often have the most tasteless audiences in hockey games, which I find is about the only common thing between the two tribes.:crazyeye:

First thing that falls into my mind:

1. World knoen products:Volvo, Erikson, Saab and Ikea.
2. Good movies(by far the best in the nordic countries).
3. Hamilton.
4. Ronny och Rägge.
5. Alfred Nobel.
6. General Snus.
7. Astrid Lindgren.

Says the United Nations. The UN ranking over which countries are the best to live in:

Norway came out as the best :king: :D, and Sweden on a fourth place. :p
http://www.undp.org/hdr2001/clips/norway.pdf

That is probably a very subjective two year old report. Just looking at the statistics of how much money is spent on health care and how much it costs is no good way of determining how "good" a country is. The UNDP has probably ignored the high taxes we pay. Myself I would prefer greater freedom instead of our socialistic system.

Did anybody mention skiing?

Err... surströmning (or something) - God's punishment against mankind...

LOL if you think the Swedes are reserved, you should see Finland! :D

Parsifal: LOL! That's the first thing that came to my mind, too! We have a saying about our country here in Finland:

"Finland - fighting the wars for Sweden for over 800 years"

Anyways, don't get offended I'm just kidding here I know the Swedes can be fierce fighters when there's a need for it. The thing I posted just happens first thing that came to my mind ;)

Typical for Sweden: beautiful women! I love em! And ice hockey, Sweden is good in it. Actually a bit too good...
