Spoiler cultural view of opponents :

Played my turn, Rome is on flat land, most likely building a worker with a warrior in the queue. Should be able to choke him good with that capital. Moved warrior due West still within my borders. I can't see Rome sending his first warrior out to me.

How much cash do you have Dan? Are you ready to upgrade next turn?

Uncovered Thebes. Even though we will have some nice forests to attack from, Egypt's capital is almost completely surrounded by a river. Thebes was also founded on Ivory, with one more source just south. Sent Warrior east, while Egyptian scout continues west.

I'll be leaving my cultural borders next turn. We can upgrade outside of our cultural borders, right?

Hmm, that is aztec border to the east touching egyptian border, right?

If that is the case chocking is hard as middle guy will send units as well very fast.

To upgrade you need to be INSIDE cultural borders!

I have 60 gold which is what I need to upgrade. I checked this already by starting a test game with Natives.

We have teched bronze...no copper in BFC for anyone except Natives!

In enemy land from what we have revealed so far only Rome has copper.

Bleh. Wish we had better luck with that. At least if Rome has copper in cap it probably does not have Iron and I should be able to delay Rome from hooking the Copper up. I have a great cap. Will probably plan on getting both food resources online before the copper though, unless someone settled horses.

Donovan it will take 3 mopre turns to upgrade warrior correct?

I am just thinking maybe it is better to just send the warrior you have and put him on the pig hill or the nice forest hill and upgrade the second warrior that will come after the worker.

Egypt went worker first which means that they will have the worker next turn...your warrior can be there in 7 turns..which means that they will already have a warrior, but you will most likely force them to spend a chop or a slave on an archer instead of freely making a second worker and maybe delaythem on improving food.

what do you think?

Yeah - warrior first may be best. Since they've gone worker first (and so has India to the south) Maya doesn't really have to worry about defence at home... let's get the warrior over there and put them on the back foot right away. When the holkan arrives after that.. it's going to be difficult for them to do anything useful without hooking up some bronze first.

India also went worker first. (Makes sense for an expansive leader with a worker UU). I moved my scout onto the wheat to stop him improving it. :)

He can have a warrior in 3 turns so I'll only be there temporarily.

Upgraded to Dog and revolted. Plan to go archer next after the worker. Whether I send another dog after that or just focus on getting a second city out depends on how close anyone is to getting horses hooked and where Rome's Iron is.

The cost of making a dog from scratch this early makes it only worthwhile if it isn't going to die from a chariot by the time it takes the 15+ turns to make it and get there. Another dog immediately after the worker is a bad idea IMHO. If someone got lucky and settled horse or have it connected by river they would likely take a shot at me.

Here is my last pic of the north... note the copper south of babylon...

@ Dan....First I would overflow the hammers from slaving to second worker for 1 turn and then grow making warrior not archer so as you hit pop 2 switch to worker and slave him. Fast developement is essensial in the south as you are quite far from opponents...your dog will delay rome somewhat giving you an advantage in developement. Hopefully Munro will have copper close (somewhere in the fog) to make a fast settler and start making some impis to slow down India. It is almost certain that India will chop at least one of the 2 critical wonders (if not both).

@ Ras & Donovan...some thoughts on scout movements.....I think you need to coperate in scout movement as your scouts are close ad we don't want to duplicate movement. My feeling is that Ras should move on the west grassland hill after making first move on the corn to see if there is a warrior out...if there is worker out it might be good to just stay on the corn for 1 turn to delay him improving corn.

Donovan a thought is to continue NE scouting all the fog to the north of Egypt, Babylon and me...my scout is comming from south and will fog bust all the fog south of aztec egypt and you so since Ras can reveal the internal tiles I think it might be optimal to plan it thsi way so we have a quicker idea of where resources are on the map...

@Indian: totally agreed... even if there is a warrior, it would be crazy to attack the scout on the forest hill. If worker -> I'll stay on the corn (though I suspect there is another 3f tile inthe bfc)... roger that!

An agressive warrior has 83% on a scout on a forest hill...why would it be crazy to attack?...it is an almost free promo and given the fact that aztec is aggressive it will be free shock or cover promo.

 I thought it was far worst than that  OK I guess I won't move on that hill if I see a warrior then :goodjob: (though, how many fights have you lost at 83%? Me a lot ;)... )

PS: I believed defensive bonus worked like promotions (thus I did 2.2*0.25 against 1)... I guess it's 2.2 against 1.75... don't be afraid by this though, I always check ingame before committing one way or the other :)

I checked it's 2.2 against 1.75 for 75.3% win chances for the warrior :crazyeye:
After two years of daily civing, I finally gets how defensive bonus works! (I got the promotions earlier :mischief:) Playing in about an hour :goodjob:

OK
Moved on the corn and no warrior/worker spotted so I moved on the hill. There is a fp in the south of the bfc... I will upload pics and demographics later today :)
