Tactics and strategy...follow the action

I will send the scout back east starting next turn. I put overflow into worker and will start on warrior next turn. Plan for warrior>archer>settler with a worker slave mixed in unless Rome sends a unit. I have plenty of room behind to plant a safe city.

Your scout will have revealed all of the fog near Indian borders in teh next 2 turns...maybe uncover the fog first and then turn back? Or do you even need to turn back? You can continue west and pass north of Zulu capital.

Good catch with the overflow to worker, propably grow size 2 with warrior and slave worker at size 2?

We also need to start planning about Stonhedge, who will build it and when?

We have the following options IMO.

1. Natives build it as they have copper and some chops to get it fast and they are not threatened by anyone.
2. We tech masonry next, connect stone and either me or mali build it.

Option 2 is logical BUT if I get horses it would be better to get some immortals and choke/kill Babylon along with Mali.

I would rather build a stack of SKs... though if no one has a better shot at it... why not?

I think me building Henge is counter productive, I have no stone and am not industrious and cannot outchop india. I am better off using my food for quick expansion IMHO.

I had already turned back with the scout as I need to scout around my city for the best location for my second.

Note that my Dog was discovered by Roman scout on hill to the SW, oh well. My guess is Rome tries to get 2 archers ASAP. Can he get 2 before I can get to his forest hills?

None of us is industrious and getting stone might be too slow I am afraid since we have to tech masonry (ie delay IW) and connect the stone.

Lets see what happens with horse first and we can discuss it then.

here is a new view of egypt, note the worker heading to the pasture...

I am not sure what to do here (didn't hit enter): best micro is to work the fp, but in that case the warrior is out in two turns. If I do this, there is a small chance the scout delay the pasture one more turn (I plan to start on it one turn after AH, ie in three turns - turn 1 chop, turn 2 move, turn 3 start improving pasture-). INstead, if I work the crappy stone, I delay growth of two turns (bad) but can kill that scout one turn sooner (good)...

What do you think?
I work the fp or the stone?

I would work the FP. If you delay your development just to clear him out early, then he's already won. And you can always send the worker over to the other pigs (to the west). With the skirmisher there, you can be sure that one will be empty next turn.

Alternatively, if Babylon's scout stays put (unlikely) you could always try to catch him with a road. I.e. next turn put 1 turn into the road (instead of a chop) but change the worker action to nothing (or maybe back to chop) after that so that if the scout is still there on turn 14 (even more unlikely) you could finish the road the same turn the warrior is finished, and catch him for a free promo before he can react.

I doubt it's worth it though if you're only 1 turn away from finishing that chop. And if you're more than 1 turn from finishing the chop, it's probably better to go and improve the pigs first anyway?

- Found some Stone NW of Babylon. There's also 2 tiles of fog in Babylon's radius that needs to be cleared; I'll do that next turn if there's no danger.

- My first Warrior is two tiles away from Thebes and may make Egypt think twice about working the Pigs. This is my first attempt at a choke, so any tactical advice would be helpful.

- When the turn ended, the Worker completed and I switched to working the Forest Plains to get the Warrior in 2 turns. The upgrade cash is earmarked for his arrival.

Here's some screenies; let me know what you think....

Also, re: my Worker's first move next turn, my instincts are telling me I should forgo the FP gold and work the Rice. Is that correct? The lake should give me 5 food there.

@Munro: due to cfc crash, I couldn't see your message intime... but I was working the fp anyway ;)
I like your road for one turn suggestion as I haven't done any turn of chopping on that forest, my worker is here to work waiting for AH... If they didn't move, I'll road and kill the scout :)

@Donovan: not sure you should work that forest unless it's an emergency, and as food overflows, there is no point working the lake/rice when you can work 2 FPs... but I am not sure it's exactly what you said... In anycase fp >> rice here

Cheers,
Ras

edit: didn't notice you were speaking of which tile to improve yesterday ;)

@ donovan...yes farm the rice it is 5 food....also Ignore Ras and work theforest to get warrior out in 1 turn :D

@ Ras..no need to spend worke tuns on roading, you have 2 pigs...chop the forest (I suggest hammers to worker) and then move the warior 1 til to teh west in case aztec scout sits on teh second pig.

Ignore Ras

I repeat, I have spent NO TURNS CHOPPING THAT FOREST. I won't chop it now, the choice is either one turn of chop then move on the pig, or road for two turns if the scout doesn't move (as per Munro suggestion)... i agree starting asap on the pasture is the priority :) Are you OK with this?
I have new pics, I'll post them after work ...

IMO since you are in the forest it is best to chop it to get a second worker faster. It will be a 2 turn delay on improving the pig but you will get the second worker 2 turns quicker which will make up for it.
Roading on that tile is just a waste of moves...if you want to road it is just better to move on the marble and road for 1 turn and then move on the pig next turn.

ok... you convinced me :) let's go for a second worker!

We will have Animal husbandry this turn so we need to discuss what we tech next.

Options IMo are:
1. Masonry - to get stone improved and get stonhedge and later great wall.
2. Iron working - we need the metal since 4 of us have no copper.

I would suggest masonry since Stonehedge will be big for us and I believe we can live a bit longer without metal since we have holkans and skirmishers and since no opponent in the north has metal in BFC.

Only problem in my mind is aztec, they will surely go Iron working next and will start sending double forest jags around which will be a pain to handle without metal.

I trust your MP experience... but my feeling is that we can live building monuments but not without metals... seriously PITA is a weak word for jaguars (stronger/faster than our current units), moreso when I am the only one producing counter.
More comments when I log in...

I spotted a new coper source north of Egypt, will post the pic when i get home...

My SK is heading to babylon... I put another one in the queue but will put hammers from chop into worker. Or do you think I should just go worker next turn? Aztec scout is going to visit Persia...

Cheers,
Ras
