Take-Two buys Firaxis

Good news: This could lead to the next Civ on console (goodbye bugs!)

Bad news: No more Civ (or at least they might sell the franchise to a crappy developer) - basically could be end game... anyone remember the Civ Call to Power II fiasco and how Activision just flat out refused to provide anymore support / patches / help once they decided they were not going to release another Civ?

Basically Apolyton became the de-facto support group and even had to ask Activision for the source code... F**ck Activision and sh**tty developers.

My guess is that Take-Two would have to give Jeff/Sid first right of refusal before selling the franchise.........so they could take Civ private again.

Don't think that's very likely to happen though.........unless, like with any business unit, it becomes unprofitable......so, Everybody buy at least 1 copy of Civ 4/5/6!

Buying Firaxis was a shrewd business move by Take-Two and it put cash in Jeff/Sid's hands and reduced their personal financial risk for developing future games........since I'm guessing Take-Two has made a s**t-load of cash off of GTA.......and rightly so!
