Hi all.

I have been reading trough the forum and all the tuturials I found relevant to my stage of learning Civ IV - but I have to say that sometimes it becomes overly micromanager for me. Specially if I am still struggling to get the noble level to a victory.

So I was considering playing a Noble game where I would post my turns and thoughts about planning and would invite other to comment and give advice.

The ideia was to give and receive general starting advice so people can learn and put into practice.

Sounds like an ideia?

many people is allready playing games and uploading them on the forums to get help and pointers so i see no reason why you shouldn't do it as well :)

Actually I have a question for you guys concerning a team human players game.

Is it diferent to have both players work on the same technology or having them work in diferent ones? I mean. In the end want it take exactly the same time?

Ok so I decided to play a team game just because that is the one I am playing in a PBEM and I choose Mansa Musa for the same reason:

This are the settings:

So there are 3 teams of two players. And I got in chance the mayan Pacal - we will see how this works for us.

This is the original placement and I decided I didn't want to regenerate.

This is where Pacal is staying. 5 food in the same fat square??? How are the odds of that happening.

So what should I do next? Move Warrior 1NE before settling? Maybe move settler 1NW to settle there? Or move the opposite direction and leave room for a coastal town?

All opinions are welcomed.

Just try to keep it as simple as possible - remember NEWBIE

I would settle on the stone then warrior rush some AI...

stone's to far away for settleing on it in my opinion

Warrior 1NE and depending on if theres anything interesting i'd either settle in place or where warrior is

Nice idea of the game Bramirez.

Great dilema: choosing between Pigs and coast. I prefer last one. I would move warrior to NW and i'd settle where warrior is. Make worker, warrior, and go for Stonehenge. Research BW, Mist, Masonr

warrior SW and if there is any good tiles around the stone it gives a huge boost in the early game. The first spot can be handled by a second city(or actually thrid making an AI capital your second). Also please attach a savegame...

Settle in place. Get pottery or animal husbandry. Probably animal husbandry->bronze->wheel->pottery.

Are those screenshots of you computer screen? Using a webcamera or such?

I don't see anything wrong with the screenshots...

The screenshots are from the game itself and let me explain one thing about the AI.

They control their own game - they are just teaming meaning we can work together but I can't decide for him.

The idea of a team PBEM is that if one of the players misses a turn the other team member can then play that turn.

I am inclined to take the spot were I am at and then make a second town on the coast.

Moving the settler 1SE would make more room for the second city don't you guys agree?

Here is the save game:

So this is where we are at the moment:

I am more convinced that we should settle into place and build a settler for that second spot while we make a little exploration to be sure what there is around.

But this is a democracy so I will take your vote on what to do.

I will try to post daily and I will try and post most of the turns so we can keep discussing it.

Remember to keep explaining why you would make your choices - we are all trying to learn.

settle in place i think is the best option now unless you have some inhuman desire for the pyramids before 2000BD ;)

settle in place,
set tech to pottery, build a worker
ask you computer team mate to tech to pottery too (you know you can ask him to switch research do you?),
cottage up the place
win

This is noble.. Not warrior rushing someone is a huge mistake... The whole point of settling on the stone is to get fast production so you can warrior rush someone. Settling a second city there wouldn't necisarrily be a good idea...

what's the goal: learning strategies which work only a noble? Or learning the game to be able to beat higher level ?

I respect a lot what you say oyzar, but here this is too much I think.

well oyzar ... i'm winning around 75% of my prince games and i've never warriorrushed anything ... theres usually more than enough time to grab Bronzeworking (as 3'th tech latest), settle a copper city and then rush with axes catching some with no archers, specially if its civs with regilius and/or peacefull nutheads in front, india, spain and even if your lucky Korea as prime examples, hell ... i've managed to wipe 3 enemies off the map with 5 axes, losing one on the first enemy which was the only one with archers sitting on 7 cities in 1500bc
