Team Play Wonder Effects

I've went through a couple of team play games already - and even though it's been said in the manual that the team players share benefits of the wonders, I've noticed it's not always the case.

For example, Stonehenge benefit (free Obelisk in each city) goes to both teammates, but the Statue of Liberty (free specialist in each city) doesn't. Notre Dame (happiness in each city) does benfit all teammates, but Taj Mahal only starts Golden Age in the teammate who constructed it.

Is there any list of which wonders work for all teammates and which don't? I'm asking because it is a big part of teamplay, as the wonders giving benefit to all teammates are twice as valuable than those helping only the guy that builds it.

Some of wonders have a continental effect.. I think the statue of liberty is one of these. -free specialist per city on that continent- My current game I have it and my island cities dont get benefit. Not sure but the great wall seems to be continental. Several others for sure. You may have to dig around the civopedia and check when youre planning a wonder.

Me and my teammate shared a continent, so that wasn't the case...

I'm pretty sure that both teammates get the effect of the Statue of Liberty. My girlfriend and I play team games exclusively, and she's definitely a builder type.

There are only a few, basic limitations on Wonders that I can see:

  • Only one person gets a golden age. Both teammates never go into a golden age, regardless of circumstance.
  • National Wonders can be built by both teammates; e.g., you both get to build the Hermitage and have a city produce double culture. This makes cultural victories a bit too easy...
  • If the Wonder says "... on this continent", then it affects all cities, owned by any teammates, on THAT continent, and that continent only. Your city, your teammate's city, a city that you capture from Montezuma -- it doesn't matter, as long as it's on the same landmass as the Wonder itself.
  • Only one person can build the SDI. It protects all teammates.
  • The Great Wall doesn't seem to protect all teammates. However, it does protect all of the owner's cities. I can't say with 100% certainty that all teammates are protected from barbarians. I'll experiment. My girlfriend perfers to play with barbarians turned off.
  • Any teammate can work on space ship projects, but you need to divide up the projects. You can't both work on the engine, for example, but you could split the five SS Casings randomly between your cities and your teammates'.

I hope this helps. I guess we should probably be posting this in the multiplayer forum, where it's more applicable.

The Great Wall definitely protects the teammate, really helps keep them pesky barbs out of the cities.

Hm, I'm not sure the great wall does apply to all teammates. Hanging gardens does, like henge this is powerful. As is the oracle, a free tech for the whole team to enjoy.

Great library only applies to one city. In a way it is proportionally less worthwhile to use it. As the hammers to % increase in teching is decreased.

Well, I can't say it works on large teams as I've only tried it like the poster a few posts up has. I team up with my wife, but we play with the barbs turned on. One of us usually goes for the wall while the other prepares to thump the nearest neighbor. So for a two-civ team it definitely works. It only works for those cities (teammate or yours) on the same continent though of course.
