Open trade window with Russia and Arabia. Both have Alphabet, neither have Polytheism.
Russia:
82 gold for Alphabet straight up.
Will pay Alphabet+68 gold for Polytheism.

Arabia:
82 for Alphabet
Will pay Alphabet + 155 gold for Polytheism.

Both of them will pay everything they have for Polytheism.
Since we're doing group discussions on trading, I won't make any yet. I'd say that we trade it to Arabia first, because then we can see if Russia has Writing or Mathematics for trade for Polytheism.

I'd say that's a good plan; anything Arabia gets won't ultimately matter since we'll be (hopefully) smothering them before too much longer. The fact that the Russians have both horsies and iron is tricky, though; they're going to be tough to deal with, though since they're so far away...

Rest of Turn log

No worries. I'm actually at work right now :( I think I did pretty well on this set of turns. It's still taking me a day or two to get them all done though.

Whoh, you were not to far from where I live ;).

Ok, sorry now checked it. I wouldn't think much's wrong..

PreTurn- Good MMing, these little thinks can help us and should be checked every single turn.

Turn 1- Okay, movement of warriors good. The plains didn't finish, that stinks...Newly created warrior was supposed to go to Close off the Arabs also. Why are we loosing 1gpt? Just for one reason, becuase of too many warriors, we need to stop this, we cant even afford to upgrade all of them.

Turn 2- Nothing wrong here.

Turn 3- Yes, granary is a must in Hovd. This archer should've been used to counter the tw barbarians following our scout. Yes, it worked, this is good, and just in time :goodjob:.

Turn 4- Nothing wrong here either, though u didnt note out that the Arabs now have the Alphabet making the price for it drop to 85g which should've been bought from the Russians to get it back when Polythiesm comes through.

Turn 5- Barbs move to Hovd, this is where the archer was supposed to be ready to counter.

Turn 6- Writing was a good choice. Build qeues were perfect. Trade was fine though I would've traded for Alphabet a long time ago and end up with 577g.

Turn 7- Fine.

Turn 8- Fine

Turn 9- Fine

Turn 10- This is where I would've traded 300g for thier Writing and started Map Making. Though both way you done is the same I would say. ;)

Overall- Please tell me if you played Monarch a beaten it a while before u signed up :). Both of your turns where fine all the way and nothing worng, you dont sound like a newbie in Monarch... ;) Though you may stay, I am definetly not kicking you out if thats what you think :).

Got the save. And like I said, I don't have Photoshop or anything, so no dotmaps from me...

Oh, and should I go ahead and trade Polytheism for all the Russians have got? And is it still an exploit to take a worker from them? It's not like they can't crank out more at this point...

No, never played Monarch. I've always been afraid of getting my butt kicked at it. When I play the sg game, I tend to take my time, and think about everything, so turns take a long time, but it comes out pretty well in the end. When I play my own games on Regent, I tend to play much faster, and not do as many smart things :crazyeye:

Oh! Right. I'm too used to 'old-skool' MSPaint; I keep forgetting it can do jpegs these days. Daaahhhr.

Here's my preliminary dotmap: http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads5/TGPython_1225BC_KN_dotmap.jpg I'm not sure about the Hovd area, but it would be a good idea to control that second choke point south of Tabriz.

As for the worker... I'm not saying that it'll decide our victory, but if we're going to trade Russia for all their money and tech, and they're willing to throw in their worker as well, why not take them up on it? But even leaving the worker out of the equation, should I take the trade? I need to know before I start.

Why do we need to depnd on the workers, lets just say the AI decided to move the worker around the city, then we wouldn't have ever thought about trading the worker. Why is this such a big dilemma, build our own workers. Foriegn workers when we are non-industrious is useless unless we have like a dozen, thats from captureing it too.

We will set it in stone that until we get to the Middle Ages we are not buying any workers. Period. End of this discussion.

...I wasn't arguing, dude. I was just asking. It wasn't a 'big dilemma', as you put it. We're doing this so us folk new to Monarch learn some things, right? You said that it wouldn't help much, and I just said it wouldn't hurt, either.

I was also asking if I should make the trade - that is, all of Russia's gold and Writing for Polytheism - without the worker. Do you want me to make that trade, or not?

All right... pre-turn evaluation. Karakorum will make a settler and also grow in 2 moves, most everything else is busy with making barracks or warriors, with the exception of Ulaanbatar (Granary, 8) and Tabriz (Temple, 56). We've got two settlers on the move, one north of Kazan and one south of Tabriz. Barb camp far NW of Hovd, no other visible barb activity.

So my questions are:

A) Should we switch Tabriz to a worker instead of the temple? It may be a while before the other workers make it down there.

B) From the position of the settlers and going off the dotmap I made above, I'm planning of putting one city on the green dot north of Kazan and one on the purple dot near the edge of the Russian territory, just NE of the cows. Would this be a good plan, or should I put priority on claiming the wines?

C) Should I continue military buildup, and prepare for an assault on Arabia? Or is it too early for that?

If I hear anything about anyone trading Workers. I will expect to see "I will not trade Workers" 100 times in a post. J/K ;)
