Im playing with a friend on a team in the hotseat mode in warlords with the two of us on a team and the 6 other computer teams in pairs. So I was wondering if it hurts the computer teams in recearch and growth if you take out one of the pair and leave the other one on their own?

welcome to the forums!
The short answer to your question is yes.
In team play, research is combined so if you break up a team then no more combined research, which hurts.

Thanks been browsing these for a long time but nerver got a chance to post. Thanks for the info, I thought that was the case but I read another post that said that research costs increase 50% for every player on a team so im not sure if that means that a team with only 1 left can recearch faster than a team with 2 recearching the same techs at once.

If what you read in the other post is true(and it probably is).
Then if a tech costs 100 beakers for 1 civ, for a 2 team civ it now costs 150 beakers. So a team with only 1 player left needs less beakers to research a tech, but since there is only 1 civ left, its still longer.

If on the other hand you break a team of AI then each AI will need to get their own 100 beakers for the tech, vs your team thats needs 150 combined.

Hope that helps

Tech cost does not go do if your ally is destroyed (I only tested with starting teammate).

For a challenge (arguably depending on the level - Monarch is certainly doable), put all of the AI's on a single team, and have you and your friend team up against them!

Is there an echo? My quick test of putting a barb tank next to my allies capital yielded that cost remained the same after his demise.
