This is going to make for some really weird deals at the bargining table. The AI may ask for something simple and the next thing you know, the AI is better developed than you. (I may never trade a tech again) Making the research not jump from one to another, may help with this. That maybe why they decided to do that. I can see how this will help the re-play aspect, though.
I also think it is odd that Magnets has electricty as a prereq. Shouldn't that be reversed? And why would biology be a requirement for magnets? I didn't drink that much in college, did I?
