I can't see any of the technology improvements in Warlords, I don't see Code of Laws leading to Constitution, it's still Nationalism. I don't see Divination, I see the same set up as CIV 4. Another thing am I to understand that the civics set up is the same as CIV 4 even though in the book it says they've changed?

Constitution has always required Code of Laws before you could research it. If you look at the upper right hand corner of the "box" for Constitution, you'll see the picture for Code of Laws. If you hover the mouse cursor over that picture, it says "This technology requires the knowledge of Code of Laws."
In order to research a technology you need to have at least one tech that points to it with an arrow, as well as every tech listed in the upper right hand corner of the box.
Some technologies like Astronomy and Divine Right don't have any other techs pointing to them in the tech tree, but they do have a couple of techs in the upper right corner of their boxes, meaning you need to research those techs first.
There are no new civics in the expansion, but the patches have changed how some of them work.
I know that um, you need Code of Laws for Constitution but I was just reading in the book that Code of Laws leads you straight to Constitution without having to wait to research Nationalism, it comes earlier in the game. It doesn't look like it does. Um, I can't see Divination as a research, I can't see Rule of Heaven, City State. I mean, in the research icon on top where the civics, religion and all the other little icons are. I click on the research one and I try to see the research layout and I don't see ANY of the new technologies. I has the same CIV 4 lay out.
They're only available in the "Chinese Unification" mod that came with the game. Other scenarios also have new tech trees, but the core game tech tree remains basically the same as in Civ4.
