Technology Strategy Proposal

I have been thinking over how to maximize the Persian traits, and at the same time adapt those to the technology plan and to secure us an early Statue of Zeus, without sacrificing our growth.

Persian traits are : Scientific and Industrious
Objective Wonder: Statue of Zeus

Scientific
This means we are quite capable of getting scientific leaders if we lead in research on a part of the technology tree. This also means we got to specialize in part of the technology tree. As we already research iron working in order to get Immortals and needed resource iron, and we already got masonry and bronze from the outset, we are not far away from Mathematics, and farther down on the technology tree, construction. Scientific also means we can build libraries quicker (for less shields), and thus expand our culture and get research in the same instance.

Industrious

Beyond more effective workers, we also get an extra shield in cities above size 6 population. With all the rivers at our disposal, we may surely get free aqueducts all over the place. Yet, with construction, we can get bigger cities farther south, East and West, and possibly get a technology for trade, possibly Great Wall and for competing for a scientific leader (Scientific trait).

Statue of Zeus
We have voted for targeting this Wonder, in order to have a strong mounted unit capable of backing up our Immortals in open terrain. We already know Immortals are supreme in rough terrain.

Based on these traits and our wonder objective, I propose the following technology plan.

Start techs: Masonry and Bronze Working
Current research: Iron Working

Research plan:
Alphabeth,
Mathematics (initiate Statue of Zeus)
Pottery (build granaries to save food)
Currency (We need market places to bankroll our empire as well as upgrades)
This techology may also qualify us for a Scientific Leader, possibly, we may optionally go for construction to complete this part of the three

Writing (for diplomacy)
Literature (our Science trait give us cheaper libraries, we need culture)
Map Making (investigating the oceans, remember we are on two continents)
Philosophy, Polytheism and Republic

The two goody huts may give us a couple of techs as well (we should settle by these)

If we're going for Zues then let's get what we need to start it. I assume that's math. Then let's get what we need to make those cheap libraries. We can't maximize our scientific trait if we don't make libraries ASAP.

Yet, we need to throw in the pottery along the way too, or we lose out on food badly.
But on the large, this hits directly for libraries, AFTER pottery and currency, as we need all the food and gold we can get, also to maintain libraries.

Possibly pop as many GHs as possible?
Pottery is the cheapest tech and will therefor be the tech we pop if we get one.
We've got no chance of getting philo first since other civs started with alpha so we might as well go for maths and then currency.
I suggest: Alpha, maths, currency and make the gamble on popping an early GH for pottery.

Well, we can go for Alphabeth/MATH/Currency and see if we can pop a pottery or another settler.
