Tells me 10 turns left when I start a game?

Nope... it's the no-dvd crack that had a failure which only allowed a 10-turn limit...

As previously mentioned... stick to the official versions for the EXE :goodjob: and mod the rest! (Firaxis has done a great job on this putting lots of good tools) have fun :p

edit: I copy the forum rules by CivRules just in case...
Zero tolerance on piracy.
Posting links to warez sites and program cracks (including no-CD crack) are not allowed on the forum. Anyone found guilty of participating in piracy activity on the forum will be punished.
It's the law son... sorry

i was about to say that im using the 1.61 crack fine without the 10 turn limit but then realised that im not using one at all, its just that i never take the dvd disc out.

You've got to love when people get these problems, yet deny they've altered the game in any way...

Yeah, my disk has never left the drive. Good thing I have two drives. I might get shakes if I needed to remove it.:twitch:

What am I going to do when I start playing on the laptop? I might leave the disk in the wrong computer and be stuck without Civ.:aargh:

Yes, those game pirates suck, can't even make a prog that work properly (i.e. work more than 10 turns).

:yup: :mischief:

What? I didn't do nothing. :crazyeye:

You know what's surprising to me? There are other ways besides cracks if you're of a mind to play that way. Silly little pirates.

why does a cd/dvd crack discussion always degrade down to piracy accusations?
it is a very valid safety solution for numerous legal reasons.
piracy hurts all of us as it takes money away from the game developer which can hamper their ability to continue to put out updates and future games.
but jumping to the conclusion that all cd/dvd crack users are attempting piracy hurts the open help that forum users ask/provide.
save your accusation posts to yourself if you have nothing helpful to add to the discussion.

Rick... if the game designers had decided, for their own benefits I presume, to have your disc on your drive for playing, then if you have a legal copy of the game you must comply with it (I ain't sure that's included at the EULA)

Now, IF you ask me whether I like this. I say NO because the disc gets scratched more easily.

EULA.
I am trying to come up with a clever acronym for programmers smart enough to come up with great games but dumb enough to stick with an outdated inflexible lawyer creation.
No luck. Oh well.

Okay, but even if that's true... why do people expect the publisher to support altered software? It's no longer their product.
