I thought I would try a tradition and temple of artemis combo to push the growth rate so I research archery and to my surprise I do not get the option to build the temple, no one else had built it.

So where did it go? is there another prerequisite for this wonder? has it been deleted and nobody told us?

What is that? since I don't know what it is, I am sure it's not.

please explain if you would be so kind.

Wonders of the Ancient World DLC. You must own it and have it enabled to have the Temple of Artemis in your game.

For some really crazy growth, get Tradition, Temple of Artemis, and build a Floating Gardens (25% (?) growth) as the Aztecs. Then, if you have Gods & Kings, take the Fertility Rites (10% growth) and Swords into Plowshares (15% growth while at peace). And for good measure, throw in Petra if you're in the desert.

I've gotten absolute mega-cities (think 41 pop) with this combo.

And by the time you get to build the floating gardens the 'I win' button appears :D

You forgot the Hanging Gardens (+6 food), I can usually get it on immortal.

Though the Swords into Plowshares as Aztecs doesn't work that well, since it is basically a warmonger civ. You can't rely on barbs for that culture the whole game ;)

I did same except "Swords into Plowshares" and got a huge city (+40 pop)

Swords into Plowshares as anybody on a high difficulty level doesn't work well because it stops working the moment the AI DOWs you. Feed the World is a much safer alternative.

You could conceivably take both if you just wanted to make a humongous city for the hell of it. For an actual game SiP is much worse than many of the other things you could be taking though.

Arguably. However, I've gotten through entire (not many, but some) Deity games without war and frequently avoid all but the T50 rush on Immortal.
