I need help. I am deciding whether or not to mod the temple of artimis to never go obsolete. I am posting it here because it is more of a debate than an issue. It seems stupid that you gain temples as your main source of culture for a little while and then they just disapear. So should I?

How do YOU want to play the game? There exists no right answer here, only YOUR personal preference.

What Spoonwood said about your personal prefs...

However - ToA never obsolete makes it too damned powerful. Culture is simply overwhelming.

I can't decide, that is why I need help deciding.

I now choosed. It never goes obsolete but it costs 1000 shields.

I have modified it never to go obsolete, but did not increase it costs as I also have modified most of the Ancient Times Wonders, so I did not feel that a cost increase was warranted. If the Temple of Artemis is the only Ancient Times Wonder that you modify, then a major increase is cost is definitely warranted. If as a consequence you find yourself winning by Culture Victory too often, you can then either not check the box to enable a culture victory, reduce the culture of the Temple of Artemis to 2 from 4 and the culture generated by a temple to 1 from 2, or play on a continents map rather than a Pangaea, which would also reduce the affects by limiting them to only one continent.

Since I have modified most of the Ancient Wonders, I do not make allowance for a cultural victory. I normally play on custom-generated and modified huge or larger continent or archipelago maps, and go for a Space Race victory.

I'd rather just build the temples where I need culture or happiness. ToA obsolescence can be a nuisance.

I voted yes, but as in I like to grab it from someone else rather than I build it.
