Each Governor is responsible for the care, management, and use of cities they control. Each Governor may also setup a civic government for the cities they control in any manner they see fit that does not conflict with CIV_NAME laws.

I self nominate for Governorship of a city and accept.

Of course, I would like to name it.

I second Provolution and Octavian_X.

I second provo and nominate Chieftess.

you will get the nobodys vote, i wanted to do similar thing. eh if i become governor i will rename it and cause a mighty big stir :)

My platform is that this City shall be the best run city in the entire real of Fanatikos.
With best run, I mean I would fairly and democratically accomodate the wishes of the citizens of City 1 alone, and no one else. I will be entertaining, colorful, yes, evil tongues would even call me DRAMATIC ???????

Hey, get real, it is all about taking out the AI without taking its cities, so no need to be politically correct or bureaucratic about it :D

Additionally, the city, the source of all future Fanatacosians, is to be named Priapos, after the son of Afrodite and Dionysos, the respective Gods for fertility and wine, two essential prerogatives for a future nation-scale settler factoryand for one of five cities to rise to unprecendented levels.

I have a question: If the defnese minister wants you to make a barracks, and we are really really sad and want a temple so we'll feel better about our sorry lot in this god-forsaken world, what ever will you do?

My response

We will hold an open forum where the Defense Minister presents his case in the City thread and in a separate thread. On the other side, the saddened Governor presents his case for the Temple. The citizenry of that particular City then makes up their mind in a public vote (only registered citizens prior to the election of Governor count, with a week courtesy period for late registrees). This Citizenship vote may either be advisory to the Governor, or binding, depending on the nature.

But the final word goes to the Governor, that is officially instructing for the City.
Yet, serious violation of the law and privileges, may lead to an impeachment, either of the Defense Minister, or the Governor, or to lose an election later.

My focus would be the fair, inclusive and effective process leading up to the legitimate
outcome.

Question #2:

Will you establish a civic advisory board, or other such municipal government?

A detailed response would be appreciated: This is the only city we'll have for quite a while, and as such I think this governorship, in this term, is a powerful post.

I intend to, I will consult my constituents, and adherents, and draft a Province legislation in compliance with the Constitution and the public interest. I may actually take the inspiration from ancient Athens, and have one advisor for the build queue, one for the tile development and one for the city specialists.

I have a very strong preference for an open door policy, meaning that any citizen, either of our great city or from other parts of the nation, should have access to our leadership. The structure of any local government or volunteer organization needs to accomodate this general principle.

Decisions of which land to work and how to improve it, what task to apply our labors to, and how to keep our people happy are important, but focusing solely on these issues would be a disservice to the city's residents. Nevertheless, I wouldn't want to deny those citizens who take pleasure in organizing such activities a chance to influence our destiny, so I would probably form two advisory committes led by volunteer chairpersons, a land allocation and improvement committee, and a production committee.

Where our city really has a chance to shine is in harnessing the creative energies of our citizens to build a culture, not in the game but in the forum. Some examples of possible cultural activities might be a story writing contest, a contest to see which citizen goes the longest without making a "number crunching" reference, and some form of competition between cities. To this end I will actively seek the services of one or more cultural experts who can help organize these kinds of citizen involvement.

So to summarize, my vision is for:
  • Making our city the cultural center of the forum
  • Committes for land/improvements and production
  • An open door policy (while paying the most attention to residents)
