Term 2: Nominations

I accept the Foreign affairs nomination, but I decline on Internal affairs as DZ is doing a great job there. :)

So far the following nominations have been made and accepted:

Internal Affairs: Donovan Zoi, Emp.Napoleon

Foreign Affairs: Ankka, Zarn, Emp.Napoleon

Military Affairs: CivGeneral, Hygro

Justice of the Court: Cheetah, Hygro, Emp.Napoleon

If I forgot someone, please inform. :)

I was just wondering whether elections for positions other than the President are really necessary? Everyone is making a direct contribution to the playing of the game with all opinions being treated equally. There is a real sense of teamwork here and I was just thinking perhaps we would be better off without a hierachy.

I completely agree. Unless numbers swell dramatically, then I feel we should just have a President :)

What do the rest of you think about this?

Yes you can. :)

I second Emp. Napoleon as ambassador to C3B.
Wonder if we'll care to appoint someone as ambassador untill the election...

Ok, we'll need an ambassador too.

Zarn can act as one until the elections, when EMP (or anyone else, if there's competition), will rise to handle that stuff. :)

Don't feel too lonely, akots. I turn 37 next month myself. :)

Never played Civ1 but do remember playing a game(on an old 486) called Empire, which pre-dated the first Civ game by a few years. All cities were unnamed and established, and production(all military) was turn-based only; no city micromanagement. Of course, the goal was to capture all enemy cities. I always wondered what the connection was between the two games, because one does exist.

After that, I missed the Civilization craze, but got on board for Civ2 and became a major addict(I think a 29 hour straight session is my record). I have eased up a bit for Civ3, and since joining CFC and its Democracy Games, have found myself learning more by talking about the game than actually playing it. I have been trying to play more of late, but still enjoy the exchange of ideas that a DemoGame provides. And to me, these ISDG's we are in are the real deal because we get to match wits with some of the world's best instead of beating up on the hapless AI. :D

Well, enough blathering for now. ;) Thanks to everyone for your support. This game will be great if everyone maintains their current level of interest. :)

That's soo good to know, jus cannot tell (Bursting with tears of joy).

IMO, GOTM competition of beating the AI is a good indication of player strength. Since all strategies of beating the AI are discussed and posted by all top finish players, I can tell a lot, for example, about Bremp's playing style and preferences and his strengths compared to mine. It is quite predictable and straightforward. Same thing can be told about virtually any team leader who is playing GOTM or several SG on higher difficulty levels starting from Deity up to Sid. Beating AI on levels of Emperor and below in C3C even with mods (5CC, OCC, AW) is not a trick usually in SG.

Compared to you, I've been on both reading and practical gameplay recently. So, if you (or anyone here) feel like playing a good SG, take a look and join! There would be a SG replay of GOTM1 soon which is Regent but should be great fun because of competition of several teams and I hope it is possible to put some surprises into it.

Can I prenominate myself as embassador in CDZ? :mischief:

While we're at that, can you pre-appoint me as Military Attache within the Embassy to CDZ? :mischief:

All the needed polls have been posted, Emp.Napoleon was appointed as ambassador to C3B without contest.

Good luck to everyone in the elections! :)

Old? That's not old! Try this on for size, I'm 42 and played the original Star Trek game in text mode on a teletype! Then printed out the code and figured out some ways to improve it.

Your profile says you were born in 1969. Which makes you only 35. Must be some typo or mistake. Startrek was fun. Did not see the movie (in Russia we did not have it then) but have seen the game.
