Yes, it doesn't seem to be helping much. ;)

I am not sure who Svengali is in a historical context, but I have always used the term to mean "puppetmaster." :D

So, how does everyone like the debate so far?

It's been a mockery of civilized society and has put an unremovable scar right at the heart of this DG. People's prides and egos have overlapped the greater good. Member's friends and associations have dictated rather than minds and answers.

Hot shot accusations have been made and defended. New members have tried to make a mark and have succeeded. The old guard is shriveling up and starting to crumble. The new have arisen and the old shall be crushed.

Nobody is defeating you DZ...Nobody. How is that even possible? You could have ran against someone and won, but run against Nobody and you're at the brink of defeat? That must hurt...doesn't it?

So just your average day in the DG's political intrigue.

And you can't defeat nobody, because there is nobody to defeat. You lose before you even fight! :crazyeye:

Not really, Moss. ;) Nobody has run a legitimate campaign based on my failure to represent the people who elected me last term. I ran this term out of respect to the several people that nominated me for the position this term, and expected it to be close.

I have no problem with a new guard taking over for the old; it would just be nice if they got their feet a bit wet first. Otherwise this new renaissance can just be chalked up to the latest unethical move by Chieftess. I am sorry that you happen to be a part of it, and plan to use your eloquence to do her bidding.

Ok, one thing I dont get is the "chalked up to the latest unethical move by Chieftess".

Maybe if he lived in New Zealand

well he assumed i knew who karl rove was.

chalked up to the latest unethical move by Chieftess

I must say that i have hardly ever talked, to Chieftess, she seems ok but i have not been intoduced into any large conspriarcy or anything. I just wanted to get a job here at the demogame, forigen was the place that seemed interesting.

I am even baffled about this conspericy which made me want to switch to the pro-forum standings.

That's quite, ummm, well, insiteful isn't quite the word I'd use. Pathetic, perhaps.

This has been a fine debate, with candidates producing good answers, debating differences and bringing up relevant points to the matter. I wish more elections were contested - I was looking forward to a good debate in the Public Defender position.

Old guard vs New guard. Lol - you haven't been around enough to know the true "old guard". Heck - I barely remember them (think DG1). The impact they have on the game is much, much larger than you know, yet you dismiss them out of hand. You toss aside their wisdom and knowledge of the mechanics of the demogame. You ignore their knowledge of Civ3, and the intricacies of how the two combine.

I doubt you could find anyone that doesn't want to see new blood, new thoughts and new ideas in the game. It's the only spot of change we have, and the impact some make can be dramatic. Nobody is an example of that.

You bring a hostile attitude to your posts. I hope that's nothing more than election posturing.

DZ's decision last term was regretable, but I can understand. How can you support a nation that acts in a wasteful and unethical manner? How can he support actions within his purview that he finds repugnant? DZ has too much respect for the WotP to simply not issue those instructions, so the only avenue available was resignation.

I was, however, disappointed by that action. I know the experience that DZ brings to any office he's elected to. He understands the demands of holding office, and how to organize his efforts. Both he and Nobody bring some intriguing ideas to the election, I hope that those ideas are the reasons that citizens consider for their vote, not merely the name.

That's a first. Really it is. You are the first person ever call one of my posts pathetic. You can pick up your prize on the way out the door.

I agree, this debate has been good. With the exception of all the accusations by certain members against other members of voter fraud. Or of supporting the 'new' guys.

I haven't been around long eh? Hmm...that's also a first. Just because I haven't actively participated in DG's doesn't mean I haven't looked in from time to time. I don't dismiss them. I just said they were crumbling. There's a big difference. It appears that some people will go the extra mile to ensure that newer members of this DG don't get elected. Or that the 'chat folks' don't get elected. It's a conspiracy at its worst. Just look at some of your own posts and some of DZ's posts.
I doubt you could find anyone that doesn't want to see new blood, new thoughts and new ideas in the game. It's the only spot of change we have, and the impact some make can be dramatic. Nobody is an example of that.
Yes, you want new blood. You just don't want them up for any major elections.
You bring a hostile attitude to your posts. I hope that's nothing more than election posturing.
My posts are what I feel. They have nothing to do with election posturing or DG political ramblings. Never have I posted something that I won't back up nor have I ever posted something just for the fun of it all.

Again I say that while the debates have been good in this election thread and others, there have been some sore spots. Some people seem to get carried away and it isn't going to help anyone in the long run.

I too was disappointed by the actions of DZ. It would have been better for him to be showing what he thought the path of the nation should be and try to reason with the people on why he is angry with the nation for thee path that it took. It would have been much better that he stayed in the ministry working his hardest to get us to think more like him. I thought it was a cowardly action, i know it is harsh of me, but had he stuck it out and won the people to his view, then I would have respected him more for sticking out in a tough ministry.

Out of the "old guard" only 4 people still here were around during that time I believe. Chieftess, Civanator, Cyc, and myself. Of those four, I think I'm the only one who actively partcipated in the "underground politics" of the game, and that was only about mid-way through.

Anyone remember the fights Shaitan and I use to get into?

On another note, my vote goes to Nobody, for reasons already stated here, so I won't bother to repeat.

Don't forget donsig, eyrei, Octavian X, Civgeneral, Stuck_As_a_Mac, ...and there may be others. I'd have to think or a bit.
