Go for rocketry to get the alumium and then space flight.
And I also noticed the title.

I would prefer to see us researching Computers next. We'll get Mech Infantry for defense, a new Great Wonder to build (SETI Program) and a new improvement for our cities (Research Lab).

I voted Rocketry, as it would be a step toward our space ship. However, Computers is a good tech to reasearch as well.
