Term 6 - Nominations

I nominate Yndy for Homefront Man, Internal Dude, Infernal Minsister, what have you. As long as he promises not to gift teams thousands of gold and then attack them ;)

I decline Goonie's generous nomination of myself, but thanks anyway. Maybe next term I'll run for mister foreign affairs guy or something :)

Why not? The first CoIA - DZ - was a mod back then as well. And nobody ever questioned his right to get elected nor suspected any power abuse.

Rik, everyone likes you too much, so we aren't going to try to stop you. :p

I actually think it is dumb that people think mods are abusing the game, when they run for positions (and I know what you are talking about). In my eyes, mods are citizens just like everyone else. They can choose to run or not run. The decision is theirs and no one else's.

Has this game been going on for that long? :D

Rik, the people have spoken, and obviously see no problem in having you run the nation. For this reason, I must decline Goonie's nomination to return to CoIA at this time.

I would like to run for the governorship of the province that contains that one southwest city with the Cattle(what's it called again?) :mischief: Anyone care to second me?

Therefore I want to know 2 things.
A: Emp: what level can you beat (easily) in C3C? And what is your usual behaviour to every turn MicriManaging, city check, Diplocheck etc. ?
B: Do the citizens consider it appropriate for me to run for CoIA (king) ?

I can beat Monarch easily. I do a decent job of MicioManaging, I do know the art of not automating workers, if that is that you mean. :p Of Course I am not as good as akots, maybe at the same level as Rik. Of course, I won't be the only one doing the micomanaging. I would like to greatly include the govoners in it. we can make order pages on the old turnthread, then include them in the next turn. This way everyone knows what we are doing.

And micromanaging is not the only part of this job. I am sure (with all of my experiance as a diplomat) I can be Head of State.

I do not have any qualms about rik runnning, as long as he does not ban those against him
;)

No; that is not what I meant. And Monarch is a level a bit low. I can beat Deity, although not always.

I'm better than Monarch level. I don't like ranking players, so I say nothing about better or worse than akots.

We already have each citizen, that wants to, involved in every part.

I agree fully. But the turnplay is very important the coming (war)term.

thanks. I have only banned 1 person in the ISDG so far, UKguy, and I hope it stays at that. I am not planning any banning and certainly not to "increase my chances". This is what I am fearing; people not being able to distinguish between "citizen Rik", "CoIA nominee Rik" and "Moderator Rik".

If I get elected, I'll remind Chieftess and Eyrei that they moderate this ISDG-forum as well.

Although it does not seem like the popular thing to do, I wish to caution Rik agaisnt running for King.

I am afraid that mixing the jobs of turn player and moderator could turn nasty. I do not know Rik very well at all, and I cannot presume to make judgements on his personality. I can only speculate in vague generalities(AKA No one is named. All hypothetical).

Even then, I am worried. This game rouses peoples passion and can cause much debate and arguement. As we saw with our previous turnplayer, they too are not unaffected by this tumultuous rush of emotion. I am worried that if a person was to be a moderator and king, the thin line that seperates the two would be crossed. For example, the king is debating passionately with a citizen. Tensions are rising, and both break some forum rules for flaming and/or trolling. I am worried that the moderator will be quick to moderate his opponents, while he gets off with no punishment for the same type of behaviour.

Someone had to say it.

Best of luck to you all who are running.

If a moderator is uncooperative, there is always TF. Of course don't go to TF right away. Try to settle the mater via pm first. I don't see moderators flaming anyway.

It is a valid point of caution, but from what I've seen Rik seems like an intelligent and reasonable person and I have no problems with him running for monarchy.

Caution is always needed but in this case the risk for the forum is minimal and benefits for the gameplay are substantially higher IMO. Election also needs some kind of trust to the person you are voting for.

I can see Rik's trepidation because in the SPDG, Chieftess is being attacked (unfairly I might say,) just because she wants to be active in the game. I would support Rik if he wanted to become the turn player.

Yet, Rik has proven to be a moderate moderator over the time I have seen him, and unbiased. He actually follows objective criteria for forum justice. However, using moderators tags to press in-game views, that is another story. I have never seen Rik abuse any Moderator privileges, and no one really questions his authority and integrity.

I am such a direct person, I would object if this was not the case.

I don't want to become the turn player -preferrably not- ; I am responding to the call of the citizens who seem to want me to perform that task. I am not running away if I am (so it seems) needed.
I do see the need for a skilled turnplayer on Demigod or Deity level (no offense Emp) who can play the turns without making errors. I know I can do that.

But what I really hope is that someone else of that play-level accepts this nomination. If that happens I will decline my nomination.

I've stated (and that is still my opinion) in Post 16 in this thread that
Rik said:
I don't want anything else than a low governor or ambassador position; I do not want to entangle (or give the impression to entangle) citizen, in-game function and Mod-ship.

As a mod I do not feel that it would be good to obtain an in-game position of (some) power.

However, current President akots stated in Post 34 of this thread that
akots said:
However, it would be better if we have a highly qualified turnplayer. It seems that asking Rik to reconsider his position and accept the nomination for CoIA is a very good idea.
.

Well, Fanatica needs you Rik, and I assume you would not press issues with moderator tags for in-game policies, or gag political opponents, or silence heated exchanges as long as they do not contradict forum rules. You are the best candidate around, and we are not that populous here. I am at Demigod level self or so, but feel I am not qualified for the post, for many reasons, and I really think you could have a moderating influence on the content of peoples proposals versus threadjacking and personal harangues.

I bare with you, Rik. I can't do it for you as emperor is my level at best. :undecide: Besides, I don't wanna do it as well.

Good luck!
