Not An Evil Liar
On the way to the house, I trail behind the others, and read Annie's diary.
First Entry of Relevance:
Dear Diary,
I hired a guy named Jack today. Kind of an odd fellow. Always wears a trench coat. Talks funny. But he seems to be a decent enough of a guy. Makes a mean drink too.
But I gotta ask. What's a guy with a medical major in psychology doing bartending at a town like this?
Second Entry of Relevance:
Dear Diary:
Jack's a good kid, but he's a little bit nosy. He's already been checking out too many people's closets.
But guess who's been frequenting the bar lately. Palma Cross aka Rose Marigold. I had my book signed by her. Amazingly, she and Jack seems to know each other. Apparently they met in college.
Meeting in person though, I can say several things about her.
But then again I feel safer not saying them at all.
Third Entry of Relevance:
Jack's dug too deep. Been messing with the wrong crowd. I told him to stop, but he won't listen.
I'm worried.
Fourth Entry of Relevance:
Some bastard ambushed Jack and beat the crap out of him. Hit him in the head with what seems to be a fire poker. Doctors say that he will make a full recovery but... I better go to the hospital to make sure that he's okay.
Police told me that Jack refused to identify who the assailant was. If I learn the assailant's identity I'm going to wring his neck myself.
Fifth Entry of Relevance.
Tailed Jack. Knew it is wrong, but I need to know what he's messing with. There's a rumor that he's been messing with drug trading. I need to make sure that that's false. I won't have a dealer among my staff.
--Jack's a good kid, just as I thought he was.
Sixth Entry of Relevance:
Jack came in later than usual, paler than ever. I asked him what was going on, but he didn't answer. Just kept on looking out the window, peering over his shoulders all day long.
