TETurkhan Test of Time (Map & Mod)

Awesome Mod. Rated 5/5. Very Happy Gamer! :goodjob:

I would like to see a TeTurkan Strategy Thread somewhere or some help adjusting to the changes. That is if Teturkan doesn't want us using this one. I have seen it evident he does welcome feedback for improving the mod. Is there a way to link them? Like if a Strategy thread is created the link provided in the first post to here?

Three cheers for Teturkan!!! :egypt:

Hello Everyone & Happy New Year!

Thanks to everyone for their input – almost all suggestions have been considered for version 2.0 The Strategy guide in particular is a great idea and I support it 100%.

I have started work on the mod and am hopeful to have it completed soon (1 week) at which time I will forward the download to people interested in testing it (1 week of testing). By the end of the 2nd week of this month it should be ready :)

Also I have not forgotten about Power Politics (a tournament multiplayer game based on this mod). After version 2.0 is posted I will start the first one.

teturkhan, this mod is amazing :D

I created a teturkhan strategy thread as no-one else seems to have done it yet. I hope people here will use it so we can all improve our game.

Hi Tet !

1.
I tried to "ailrlift" my worker and settler in modern times but there was no option. I couldn´t load them into my Mech Infantrys, either.
What do you think about changing this. It would be much easier to settle new islands in the later game phases (such as australia); though you increased the movement rate of transports, it is a long long way from europe to the pacific....
For a european Nation it is absolutly important to gain a rubber colony/ city (like in afrika), but without a RoP-Contract, you have to build the workers in theses colonys and it takes to long to build workers there. It would be much easier to airlift the workers you do not need anymore in your main "country" and transfer them to your colonys.

2.
Because of all the barbaric Pirate Ships it takes very long, to become access to the "New World", that´s interesting and realistic ! But when you explore the tree nations, they are totaly backwards ! E.g. when I was leading at the middle of the third era and discovered america (Incas, Aztecs aund Iroqois) they still tried to develope monarchy or construction.... no equal nations in the following wars and space races.... (This was my experience in one game on monarch and one game on deity)
Could you enforce them a little more ??

3.
I prefer taking the germans (don´t know why :D ) but with them you gain a free tech in everey new era. Whenswichting from industriell to modern times you gain Rocketry. If you did not develop "advance flight " you could never build the ME 262 or upgrade the FW to the ME 262 but just to Jet fighter and this is too expensive ! Could you change this ?

4.
What do you think about some more types of governments such as Fascism, "Technocracy", "Theocracy", "modern Diktatorship"....

btw: :goodjob:

Justarius

@redwood
yes it is possible, I changed the graphics, too. just copy them to ptw\art\terrain folder ;)

1. that was a bug - noticed it and has been changed for version 2.0

2. New World in the City/Historical mod will be backwards until mid way through the INdustrial age. The World Map version (no cities) there are no such limits so you might notice things happen a bit differently.

3. it should of upgraded - I will change this so it does :)

4. I like more types of governements as long as they add "true" variety. Some government types are hardly different from others (aside from their names). Put something together for me and I will consider it.

Reply to REDWOOD TREE: Actually my mod comes with Snoop's graphic mod.

TETurkan,
The following is a list of changes I’d like in your mod/civ3:

1. One thing I liked in Civ2 and have missed in Civ3 is the Eiffel Tower. In Civ2, it helped improve your reputation with the other civs. This would be a welcome addition to Civ3!

2. On a similar note, is there a way to create a way of clearly specifying our reputation with each civ, like in Civ2 it would say what opponents' mood is toward you AND [separately] what your reputation is.

3. I like in PTW that they added the "Details" option in the Foreign Advisor screen. I'm wondering if this can be improved so that we can see the details of trades between opponents, what they're trading how much they're paying to each other, and for how long. It would be great to see this info in the Foreign Minister screen. It makes sense that more info would be revealed as you get embassies established and spies.

4. I would also like a screen, like one big chart, that shows the foreign advisor info like a. gov't types, b. size of treasury, c. mood toward me, d. my reputation. It's such a pain having to hunt for the info through the foreign advisor and military advisor to find out their gov't types, etc.

5. I like the diplomacy in Civ3, but I wish one aspect was changed. I think that opponents should only minimally be affected by my breaking agreements with OTHER opponents, and not at all if it’s against a shared enemy. In other words, if I’m Russia and America is at war with Egypt and I break a trade agreement with Egypt, then I don’t think later in the game America should be reluctant to trade with ME because I “break agreements.” Egypt on the hand, who was the recipient of my transgression, should hold a grudge about it, but no one else. I find in TETurkan’s mod especially, that it’s nearly impossible to trade because if war breaks out somewhere between us, then MY reputation for holding agreements/trade is shot to hell for the rest of the game! So an additional suggestion is that my reputation should only be affected by MY actions, if I break an agreement, not if it is broken by the path/trade route is blocked somehow.

**6. In the F11 top 5 cities screen, I would LOVE to see more info!! If I’m 2nd in population, who’s first? Who’s third? What’s my population, what’s that of the first place civ? I really really really want to see the rankings and specific stats in this section!

7. I haven’t gotten to the modern era yet in TETurkan’s mod, so sorry if this is already accounted for – I think we should be able to see the whole map once we build the Appollo program like in previous versions of Civ, or at least once we develop Satellites.

OK, so those are all my recommendations for changes to Civ3/TETurkan’s mod. I recognize that some of the changes may be modified, and others may be impossible and require major changes from Firaxis, but anyway, those are my thoughts. Hope you like at least some of them.

I love your Map and Mod TETurkhan. I was playing the normal version with 31 civs, and it was amazing.

Just to give you an idea of the game so far:
http://GL_dilbert.tripod.com/cities.GIF
http://GL_dilbert.tripod.com/demo.GIF
http://GL_dilbert.tripod.com/score.GIF

you have to copy and paste those into an addressbar.

I'm Rome, Monarch difficulty, and the game was going fine. I was an aggressive civ, conquering parts of northern and western Europe rather quickly, when about half way in the Ancient era India and Turkey(two of the largest civs at the time) declared war on each other. They then, systematically, started bringing in allies, who in turn, brought in their own friends, until, eventually, almost every civ on the planet, was at war. It got to a point where an average of 1.5 military alliances were signed per turn.

I didn't pay much attention to it, until India tried to extort me for about 40 gold. Even after they declared war I didn't think about it much, as there was about 4 civs between them and me. They then got Mongolia into the war who would bring in Korea and between those two nations, most of my Neighbors(England, Celts, Carthage, Isreal, Greece, Hungry, Persia, Egypt, Poland, Germany, and Spain) and some others (Tibet, Zulus). That wasn't really the problem though. The real problem was when China tried to extort some gold from me and when I denied them it(I probably should have paid, I had some 4000 Gold at that point) they declared war. China, despite who knows how many other wars they were fighting, took the time to cross the entire Asia mass, and take one of my Eastern European cities with a large group of those Bow guys... I took it back, with great difficulty(It was a city on a river, with a wall and barracks... cost me an army filled with legions too), then obtained a peace treaty from them. Hungry, not realizing that China was the only thing keeping me from beating on them, had to be convinced to give me their cities.

It's a great game. I have my sites on conquering the Middle East, North Africa, and England, then heading West to the New World. I'm a little afraid of what I'll find there though. The Aztecs are the 4th Largest Civ in the game, and the Iroquois and Incas are not going to be push overs either. Thanks for making such a great map and mod.

I noticed, in the version that comes with PTW, that you didn't allow irrigation into southern Italy, was there a reason for this?

Version 2.0 resolves the problem of everyone Civ declaring war on each other early on in the game. I have put limitations on what treaties can be signed (time available) etc that have really help in this regard.

You will now find that until later in the industrial era if you want to make contacts with someone you must send a unit to explore and make first contact

Teturkhan, does this mean version 2 is out soon?

That's not a problem Teturkhan. I thought it was great.

Hello?? This thread got quiet.. nohting for a whole week. How's v2.0 coming along TeTurkan?? I look forward to it. Btw, were any of my suggestions I mad a couple of weeks ago possible?

I would defiantely like to see the AI trade techs less so that you dont have everyone in the medieval period at like 1000 BC.

That way i could actually play japanese without having very little technology compaired toe veryone else by the time I get ships. That is very annoying.

I would also like to see the Orthodox nations get their own unique units. They didn't use knights and templars and such. The Byzantines in fact used very different types of troops than that of the west, like cataphracts for example.....

My computer is in for repairs - been 2 weeks now hoping to get it tomorrow...

anyhow everything is pretty much good to go - many many fixes, more units, much more balance and reduce wait time between turns... I tried to implement all suggestions - sorry for those that I did not... once I get my PC back I will do some final tests then post it...

Last night I did a teturkhan-computer-get-fixed rain dance......

Zabba, does it look a little like this:

[dance] [dance] [dance] [dance] [dance] [dance] [dance]

Has anyone else had a problem with upgrading units? My system crashes when i do this while running teturkhan 1.7. It sounds like low memory because it only happens about midway through the game when i have alot of units. But im running a p4 1.3ghz with 384 megs of ram.

Other than that issue, this mod makes the game much much more exciting! Thanks to Teturkhan!! I eagerly await 2.0!
