TETurkhan Test of Time (Map & Mod)

Looked through the PediaIcons file and everything seems to be in order... the update has the current pedia file entries so the only way you don't have them is if you have you are using an older version...

I know the download of the mod is a bit confusing and there are a number of steps.. possibly somewhere something wasn't done right...

how about the rest of you? does Robo-armor work ??
I tested it out today and it worked fine...

Hi,
Thank you for the info. So the problem is with my computer then. Maybe i should delete txt files before update installation, cause otherwise they will not be overwritten. I am using Win XP Home edition. Maybe you recognize the problem now. I wonder if the problem will occur with all needed files which must be overwritten. I'll see it. Thanks for help!!!!!!!

I have just found what was the problem - I think that it is worth of mentioning in the installation instructions. Probably I'm one of few who do these things, but my C: drive is kinda full. I have three partitions, so I installed civ game to D:\Infogrames....... and so on.
I have just found that I have all the files from update in the newly created directory C:\Program Files\Infogrames.... and so on. As I understand the automatic update utility takes C; drive as the default. For people like me having game in a different directory or drive that may not be sufficient just to run exe only. I will manually overwrite my files in D: drive, where i use the game.

Teturkhan, you could consider mentioning that in installation tips (instructions) as maybe other people may choose different directories as i did.

So i've seen graphics - love it. Great job, you make the game a level higher, it is more enjoyable now, your mod tremendously extends playability.

OK, Mr. TETurkhan. I'm ready. You can release 2.0 now.

Tet,

Again, I want to thank you for making such a great mod. If it wasn't for this mod, I don't think I'd play the game at all.

I'm excited to try out your new version. Good luck.

Adam

I'm pretty busy myself, so I think I understand what Tet is going through. I'm in no rush for 2.0, but I'll probably get around to trying it when it comes out.

EDIT read through most of the thread. I have the latest version of the map, and its about 450 BC, and this one turn keeps causing the game to not respond. Does anyone know what causes it? Is it that my computer is too slow?

I haven't had time to read through the whole thread, so this might have been asked before, but I have the latest version of the map, and its about 450 BC, and this one turn keeps causing the game to not respond. Does anyone know what causes it? I have Win98, 900Mhz, and 300-odd MB of RAM.

One suggestion/problem: Perhaps you should give some larger civs an extra settler because they tend to get broken up by other civs. On the game I'm palying everything is working out awesomely, but all the other civs have random colonies all over the place. Russia is a bunch of german/celtic/hungarian colonies, and China is half Tibetan. One more thing: In the Northern Russian/tiberian area there should be more barbarians.

BTW TETurkan EXCELLENT mod!!!!! This is what I've been hoping for in a civ game. I can't thank you enough, and I hope I'll be able to play a compatible game on my computer.

EDIT Started a game as Tibet, its doing well, but I can build Seige crossbows AND catapults. I assume this is unintentional? Also, can you make siege crossbows stronger? And what about a trebuchet for midieval times before the cannon?

Sorry about all these posts, but I have another suggestion. How about make roads upgradeable. So you have the original road, movement 2. You can upgrade it with a worker for three and finally four movement before rails. It could be upgradeble once in ancient age not requireing tech, and in midieval age after researching engineering it can be upgraded once more for the total of four movement. This is to distinguish between different qualities of roads; historians say Rome had unrivaled roads, in civ roads are all the same.

This is just a suggestion, I hope you don't think I'm angry at the map or anything. I can't compliment you enough on the excellency of your map.

If you were playing with the Regicide option than this will definately cause it... originally i suggested this as a good way to speed the game up.. however when a Civ gets eliminated the computer has to do many calculations... i had one game where it took 10 minutes for it to finally come around!

hope this helps...

TETurkan: No, I'm not playing with regicide, I though t that would be too short of a game. When the game crashes, everything is going normally though. I end the turn, it goes through, it goes to my 'upkeep' when some of the cities finish their production, and after that it just keeps loading and loading and Ctrl Alt Del says its not responding.

Kal-el: Sorry, I checked it out. I thought you could create new improvements, which would be upgraded road, then add "must be built on road" and then you'd be able to say "movement along upgraded road=3" or something like that.

Hi, I agree with Bobtheterrible about the road idea. My only frustration (beside knights not able to board ships, but we already discussed that bug, and it'll be fixed in 2.0) with the mod is the slower movements. Bu I don't want to edit it and make it movement of 3 because I understand Tet's emphasis on reality, but I like this compromise, about being able to have workers upgrade roads.

Oh, and I've always thought it's odd that frigates/galleons are not faster than caravels...
