TETurkhan Test of Time (Map & Mod)

I like to think that all of us who enjoy this mod share a love of history. There are many amazing mods out there, true epics, this one for all intensive purposes does not aim to be the biggest, but instead attempts to re-create history as much as possible.

Now think about that for a moment. Trying to get a game to play out just like history is no small undertaking. One slight change can totally imbalance everything. If I could merely add things without worrying about staying true to history then this mod would have been done a year ago. More you add the more your troubles.

Some people complain there are not enough units, they want more improvements, more this and more that - it all comes down to priorities. Each change means I have to sit there infront of a computer and watch for hours and hours and hours and hours :crazyeye: to see what effects of the changes. You think playing test of time takes forever - try testing it.

Will be looking forward to it. You mod was the first I ever played. It still ranks with the top mods I love.

I am a big fan of the TETurkhan M&M, and I would love to help! In the PTW disk version, I am currently involved with games including Russia, India (x2), Egypt, Persia, Rome, Abyssinia, Songhai, Zululand, Aztecs, Iroqouis (sp?), Incas, China (two games), England (actually a lot of fun!), Indonesia, Japan- checking save folder for any I forgot- Greece (which I gave two Modern Armors and three Battleships just for kicks!), Hungary, Celts, and Turkistan. :help:
Your M&M is so fun and realistic, besides it, DyP, and World2003, I hardly play regular Civ! I would really like to help in any way possible for developing a new version of Test of Time.
My abilities are somewhat limited, but besides a part-time job and  a girlfriend  , I have nothing else to keep busy with! I am somewhat of a history buff; though a good percentage is American history (I AM from America  ), I do have extensive knowledge about WWII, early to medieval Chinese history and culture, modern political systems, all types of goverments, and anything even remotely related to European weaponry, military tactics/ ideas, and their progression through time. I have some ideas about additions/changes to the M&M, and would be more than willing to share.
Unfortuneatly (sp again?), times are tough. Games cost money. Therefore I am without a copy of C3C for at least the next month, but once I get it, I can easily familiarize myself with the editor.
If there's anything I can contribute in particular, even if it's just play testing beta versions, let me know, PM or email. Keep up the good work! :king:

Silverknight you need to get C3C - its a must. Once you do let me know and I will see if we can put you to work. :D

Curious anyone here have exceptional writing skills - business style documents etc?

If so then please drop me an email:

thanks!

Cool:goodjob:

I managed to get my hands on Conquests, after all this time. :D I've been playing like a madman, living like a zombie, and I've lost 15 pounds! (Of Civ III: PTW save files, I mean... :mischief: ) I'm ready to test anything you need to, just post it or send it to me. :goodjob:

Great job, the more time you spend the more time thousands of people get to spend having fun in your name.
I cant wait and neither can anyone else wait any longer i cant wait till its done! :)

TET Your mod is the greatest thing to happen since sliced bread, can't wait for the new version, I used some of your stuff in a scenario Im making but i gave ya proper credit ;-) , the only thing I dont like about your mod, and I mean ONLY, is the tremendous loading times, I hate watching a whole simpsons episode and only moving forward 1 turn. You gotta fix it! But otherwise keep up the good work. :-D

How come grasslands provide 1 food and plains gice off 1 food and 1 sheild?
Shouldnt grasslands give 2? All my cites in europe grow but never have and food.
Good Job with everything else, your doing great!!
Can wait till it's done.

Designing Test of Time came about because of my desire to see Civ play out closer to how history actually did. Resources, terrain, movement rates, unit costs, cities and their growth during certain ages were all done with as much accuracy as possible. It all started though with the map. The Map and the mod are intertwined more so than most mods.

The popularity of the Test of Time I think show many found the same aspects of game play appealing as I did. The best compliment given to me regarding the mod was in an email where the person stated that playing the mod was so different it actually felt as if he was playing a different game in a way. I think all mod makers strive to give players something new, a dimension to the game that perhaps was not developed enough - I am glad that I have been able to do so with Test of Time.

Thanks to all the people over the years that have supported this mod and as always, I promise not to disappoint with 2.0

Excellent map. Much praise.

I just got Conquests, and the first game I played was on your full map and mod. As I'm 100% ethnically Hungarian, I picked Hungary and it is quite enjoyable. I've got pretty much all of continental Europe under the Magyar boot as well. :)

I have a question though. The map on that is insanely big, do you have a moderately sized version? I made a very nice Civ2 map a bit ago that is 91x120, and that was a good size. Do you have something around that size?

Also, if you do have a comparable map, is there a way to get a random Conquests game with all the standard rules and settings, and get a random sampling of the players?

I am far more experienced with Civ2, than Civ3, so excuse the dumb question, but using the standard civs from Conquests, not your modded ones, and using their standard starts, if I were to run up a normal game with 10 random civs, is there a mechanism in place to make sure that the most of those 10 don't start in the same place?

Your mod was good in that it spaced players out by inventing new civs, but I want to stick with the standard ones, and not use all 30 some. I'm trying to recreate the type of game I found fun on my Real World map back in Civ2.

Hello Tet,
well I liked your 1 mod a lot but still - after more than a year of awaiting i get back here to your thread and - the long-promised version 2.0 still to be waited for again? - Could you set a more or less viable date of release at least?

Thanks.

I have been saying for sometime now that the mod will be ready by November along with the other scenarios I am working on.

Currently we are working on getting a forum started where people will test and help design the new mod along with the scenarios. Once that is up I expect things to work more quickly.
