TETurkhan Test of Time (Map & Mod)

I have downloaded both those files.
But the full 1.66 exe will not run when I open it.
Nothing happens with it.
I do not think it is a problem with my pc
as other exe files work ok.
I hope this makes my problem more clear
and appreciate any idea..

It ran and worked. It's just that you don't get a pop up saying it finished running. Go to your Program Files directory and see if anything was extracted within a directory called Infogrames. If you have Civ 3 installed in a different directory move all the necessary folders and files to the appropriate directory.

hello ted, can you please give us a little previeuw in the form of a nice screenshot ?

i love your mod and im sure 2.0 is gonna be great !

i got the ptw version so i downloaded the 1.66 and 1.93 updates. before unzipping the files i deleted the old bixs (as instructed) and found that it didn't unzip any new bixs for me. umm... what am i doing wrong here?

teehee "ted" lol

aahhh maturity kicks. :D

I searched but could not find an answer to my question. I have civ3 complete and don't know if I need to patch/upgrade. I saw this in the first page:
A. If you have the PTW Disk or Version 1.5 of the TETurkhan Mod then Download the TET1.66-Update (the file is self installing, one click and you are done-then proceed to download the 1.93 Update).

So do I need to do the same thing. I also have the PTW disc and wonder if that might have more of the mod than the complete version. I know they had to cut space.
Using a dial up modem now and just want to make sure what I need to download. As this great mod has caught my interest. And want to get up to date.

edited to add: part of my confusion is the readme file says:
TETurkhan M&M (Map & Mod) 1.2
Read-me file, updated: October 1st, 2002

So will the 1.66 update from 1.2

I love Tet's previous work in modding, and I have no doubts that the new version would have been awesome. I just don't think it's right to lead us on for years like this as he has done.

Hey, I'm sure TeT would be all ears if YOU were to talk to him about ponying up the cash so that he could afford to work on it like a full-time game developer. If your not willing to do that, maybe you should tink about just paying for all the FREE enjoyment you already gotten out of his work.

No? That's not, how this modding thing works?

Nope, that's not how it works. In the real world the only way we have to compensate him for his work on all of his mods --both ones that we have enjoyed, and ones that we hope to enjoy-- is to express gratitude and appreciation for his hard work. If we can swing it we can offer our help whenever possible. If not then at least our encouragement, patience, and understanding.

At the very least you OWE him the modicum of respect it takes to HOLD YOUR deleted TONGUE!
Swallow your impatience; even if your little deleted can't find a way to empathize with his situation. deleted and don't be a deleted. He doesn't owe you a thing. But you DO owe him respect, at least, for even just trying to put out something high quality and fun, for us to enjoy, FOR FREE. You at least owe him the respect of not bad-mouthing him, even if he NEVER gets TeT 2 finished, no matter what idiotic feelings of entitlement you might have.

Maybe when you grow up and stop leaching off mommy and daddy some of this will make more sense to you, if not, well there's the door! There's no reason for you to stick around here. Go live out your life to the fullest as a deleted. I've no worries that eventually you'll either wake up, or you'll get exactly what you deserve.

jajajaja. very funny, jz.

Seeing your reply, I had to register.

Now, look the REAL things:

this mod has being developed since 2002.

After 2003, we are waiting for the 2.0

After less than one year, all the other promised mods (by other people) were released.
Who cares of this, when you can play Rise and Rule, Rhyes Civilization and the wonderful WWII scenarios?

I know how the modding thing works. Thye don't take 2 years. They take some months.
TET is taking you for fools.
Not me anymore, as I've stopped waiting since more than one year. I suggest you to do the same.

Currently I just check here once in 6 months, to see that I'm always right.
And in fact, it will never be released. And in case it is, it will be so closer to Civ4 that nobody will play it. i thank TET for his TOT 1.0 work and I would never lack of respect to him for what he previously did; but I've had enough of all the people stressing him for something he can-t do.

Welcome to CFC :)

Those mods weren't as big and their makers had more time than TET...

They are all great but when this is finished, it will be the best mod for Civ3!

I know how the modding thing works. Thye don't take 2 years. They take some months.
Depends on how big the mod is... It takes few seconds to change something, but when there are many things, it can take surprisingly long.
TET is taking you for fools.
No he isn't

It's your choice... I'll wait.

Noone is always right, you will be wrong...

I will :p

oops.
I apologize to everyone for the flamey content in my last post.
And i promise that, even though a bunch of words and phrases were deleted by the mods, i didn't actually swear in that post.

Sorry mods, for making you have to do that kind of editing;
it just gets me all fired up when the kiddies come around acting like they are owed something, and they start trash-talking TeT for not being done yet.

As for aitor_pr, how do you figure he's taken anyone for fools?
That's complete nonsense, and proves that you know nothing about modding for games. He's taken no money from anyone, nor does he plan to. Anyone who has volunteered their time and effort to help him has done so knowing that this is the real world, and that even the best projects, with even the most well meaning people behind them, sometimes fail.

TeT may fail; he may have bitten off more than he can chew, or maybe life jumped up and changed the course of things long after he was hip-deep in the project. Either way you're two choices are to be helpful, or to be silent. Don't trash-talk people for TRYING.

This isn-t true. Other mods are huge and they took just a few months.

First: I'm not a kid.

Probably you're right. I can't mod or simply I'm busy.
But I see what people do.
Have you seen TETs 2.0 map? He posted it just some months ago, nearly one year after the other maps. (And it's worser than his version 1.)
That gives a clue of its effort on this project. If it took so long for a map, imagine a mod....
If he cared just a bit more, he would have shown to everybody something more than just a screenshot removed immediately after (so, I've never seen anything. As far as i know, this could even be a bluff).
He only shows stuff to people who mail him.
The rest of us, who can't be helpful, are excluded.
Sorry, but I can't choose any of the two choices. I had to show my disappointment.

Ooh these negative posters... - I must say something:

A big thank you Tet for one of the greatest Mods in the history of Civ
(for me this was the greatest Civ-mod :king: ) !!

If we get a new mod some Wednesday, we should be very happy about this present. But if this mod doesn´t come, there is no reason to be disappointed about the creator of the mod (or even worse).

Have these negative posters paid the creator?
Have these negative posters elected the creator?
The answer for both is: no.

In my opinion the real reason for the disappointment of these negative posters is the disappointment about themselves. That they are not able to do some satisfying work. So please you negative posters, improve your skills in modding and do yourself the things you are looking for. May be, your civ-life than becomes more positive as modding is a lot of fun and may be, we get a lot of fine mods if you use your energy in a positive way :) .

Good luck Tet !!!

Actually Ville is right here. The Mystara mod is one of the biggest mods out there. About 2 times bigger than War Hammer. It took 2 years to do. I didn't have much time sometimes either to work on the mod. The only mod bigger than this that I know of is Storm over Europe which has been in production for a very long time. Lord of the Mods is not as big, but has been in production longer than either of the 3 mentioned so far and it has been well over 2 years in production. So what Ville says here is true. This mod is expected to be more than just a mod. It's a whole new game. Personally if I were TET, I wouldn't bother finishing it because of all the flack and negativity that constantly bombards this thread. It's really sad actually. I do hope he does finish it and if ends up doing it for Civ4, then so be it. I'll play it then.

The project is 90% done.

I however am a very busy person – and that’s why it is taking so long. It is really as simple as that. I am NOT stringing you people along. As a matter of fact, my family, friends, business acquaintances all think I have spent more time than I should on this project. Some of them think it is an obsession. Then there are those people here that think I have not spent enough time on it. It is a no win situation if I start listening to people around me.

All I will say is that I do believe in this project. True, it has taken way too long to finish but it WILL be finished. It will be my best work yet – the original Test of Time is no comparison to what I am working on now – FACT.

I ordered 6 copies of Civ Complete. I plan to send the project along with these copies to certain key people. People in places who can give this project exposure it deserves.

There is so much that has gone into this and not all by me either. Many great designers here online have put effort into this project. None have yet seen the fruits of their labor… I am first & foremost obligated to them, and then to all the loyal fans who have waited for so long.

That is all I have to say about this…
