TeT - If you still need testers I would like to offer my services.

I am particulay keen to get v2.0 released as I want to try and persuade someone to play a TeT game pbem :) Anything I can do to help this along and I'm up for it. (and I'm not hurrying you ;) just trying to be of service to the best mod around.)
 
I would like to second Dr. Alimentado. I emailed you awhile back, and didn't get a response positive or negative, so I'll just be here to offer my testing services if needed.

Hi, could someone please tell me how to do a few things in the editor to make the mod a little more fun until 2.0 is out?... Someone mentioned I could fix it so so that horse units can board ships, but I can't find that in the Editor. How do I do it? I have the mod loaded in the editor and have changed Trade Communications until Nationalism advance and a few other things, but how do I fix the horse units on ships thing?

Also, how can I make it so that rushing city improvements in Despotism costs more? I find that I rush all the city improvements because it costs only like one life after a turn or two of production. I have like all improvements by Middle Ages. How can I adjust this in the Editor? TET, is this somehting you've fixed for 2.0?

TETurkhan, I think your idea about enabling settlers a bit later in the game should do nicely. In the mean time, the AI will have nothing else to work on but military - for quite some time, in between the techs that allow new city improvements/ & wonders.

...that should be . . . . . interesting...., especially on Emperor & Deity. :p :eek: :cringe:
 
Is it just me or is this mod starting to look more and more like a GREAT expansion pack ?! Man, can't wait for 2.0

I'd rather pay for a mod like this than for a crappy exp pack like PTW, anytime !
 
Well speaking of expansion packs, did you guys hear about the new one? Civ 3: Conquests. 8 new civs, new wonders, new units, new goverments. They gave Islamic Sultanate as a new gov't, so apparantly religion is playing a part in the new exp. They show the new leaderheads for Sumerians and Hittites on their website, and new units for Mayan, Sumerian, and Incan civs. So there's 4 of the new civs. Trebuchets were listed as some of the new units. Temple of Zeus was listed as a new wonder (finally they've put this, one of the REAL wonders of the world, into the game). New resources too, including tobacco, wild birds, and jade (jade is a very good one to put in, considering its cultural significance in Asia and Central America). They also promised better multiplayer play, and a few other things.

Sounds to me like somebody's been playing Tet's mod. ;-)

Now what I'm really drooling to think about is the possibilities with the new editor... 24 civs in PTW, plus 8 more in Conquests equals 32... 1 more than the said limit on civs in a game... think maybe there will be a higher cap? I can't wait to see where Tet can take his mod with the new modifications to the game! :-D
 
This mod is better then any other mod or expansion pack I've seen. About Civ 3: Conquests, the only thing I want is the editor I don't need the new civs, units, wonders, and goverments. I have all the stuff I need in this mod.:) It's about time they added Disasters I hope they added more the just volcanoes.;)
 
I agree with u bobisback, but there is one feature i am very very excited for in Conquests... locked alliances! i've been wanting for that feature in civ for many years. now for the first time, after tinkering with this mod, i'm excited about the new editor as well :)
 
I am going to make 2.0 compatible with the next expansion - Conquests. This was what I was waiting for and the opportunity finally presented itself. I know version 2.0 has been long in coming, but this next expansion will enable me to take this mod to a new level. More units, more leaderheads, way more balance and for those of you with slower PCs it will be available on smaller maps (as well as the monster one by El Mencey 364x364).

Note, that every complaint, all input people have given me here in this thread has been and will continue to be taken into consideration in designing version 2.0 Keep the suggestions coming, let me know of bugs, things you don't like, things you do like - I might not respond but I ALWAYS go through each post and log them into my review/things to do hit list for the mod.
 
Hey Tet-

I rarely disagree with you, but I will take this opportunity to voice my dissent. Conquests will come out around November at earliest (probably the earliest, as they don't even tell you what's in it yet, etc. It may not even come out until 1st quarter '04).

The new civilizations and the new editor will throw a wrench into your mod as it currently stands. It will require a lot more playtesting for balance issues to accomodate the new resources and other nuances that will be added to conquests.

Therefore, I recommend that you proceed with your original plan: make a version 1.9 that will be compatible with PTW 1.21 (what you formerly thought would be 2.0). I think 1.9 will be a very strong version and it seems you have already put a LOT of work into it.

Save 2.0 for Conquests whenever it comes out. The work you put into 1.9 will have to be REPEATED for 2.0 given the new additions to the game, whatever they may be.

Just my 2cents.

I have to agree. You wouldn't really even be able to *start* work until Conquests comes out, and then it would still be quite a long wait. We don't even know what it will change, mostly, or if PtW will work with it (though that can be assumed).

Much of what you have may be invalidated... but that would happen anyway. Why not release 1.9? It would still be complete. Conquests, I would say, doesn't change your plans-it extends them. (well, that's a change... but, you know. ;))
 
I agree wholeheartedly with Lord Apolon and Rasputin. November is a long time from now, and who really knows what Conquests will be like? Please release whatever you've got gotten on now, just to improve from the 1.7 we've been playing wiht for a long time. I know I sure would enjoy it! And isn't that the point of playing civ, to have fun? Thanks TET!

I'll just weigh in and say please release something before November!

I understand that conquests will have lots of new editor features to play with, but it seems like a loooong way away right now!

Of course I'm not going to b##ch and whine if you don't, but I'd be massively grateful if you did! :)

Here's my 1/50 of a dollar-

I have to agree with evryone else, and say please release something before november. That's a long time to wait, at best, and a really long time to wait at worst. Whatever you have now will work, we can even make a few fixes ourselves if need be.

If you think it is better to wait till November, well, then sure. But if at all possible, please give us something.
 
Well I might as well toss my pennies into the hat too.

I really doubt that a November release for Conquests will happen -- games always seem to misestimate their release dates. And a lot will have to be changed and mized around when it happens. I imagine you'll be undoing so much of your mod that it'll take a while before you even have a Conquests-compatible version of your mod.

So... I'd love to see 1.9 now, and wait for 2.0 until November. With everything I've read on this map, 1.9 is such a huge improvement over 1.7 that it's almost a different game. I haven't started a new game in a while yet in anticipation of your next mod version, so I'm really itching to get something before November. :-p
 
I quit playing PTW 2 months ago waiting on version 2 of this mod. I am unaware of "Conquest" and have no idea if I will buy yet another patch or expansion. Please do not wait to release version 2.0
 
I will support the pleas of the many before me. Do not wait until the conquests expansion comes out. First of all, its a long time away and also, not everyone is gonna go out and get the expansion. Its not fair to those people that have supported you this whole time to make them wait that long and make them have to buy the expansion just to play your mod. I will say that 1.7 is great and i can't imagine what the next one will be. Unbelievable i imagine. My vote lies with everyone else. Release 1.9 for all of us that support you and your efforts. Thanks Tet!!!! :D
