I hope there isn't already a thread like this, but this is what I wanted to know; do any of you really like the Civ1 graphics and sound effects? I do. I guess it's just that they remind me of my old 486. I love those battle sounds, especially the ones in the beginning. Like two cavelry units figthing. They sound like their slapping each other.

Yep, I just love the graphics in civ1. I cant say much about the sounds,
because I had only PC Speaker (IBM Sound) in my old computer, and my new one doesn't
support SoundBlaster.

There are some units I like especially. Like the battleship. It looked so much better in Civ one than in Civ2. It doesn't seem like it can do as much damage. Go figure.

I like the graphics of Civ I because they have that comfortable old times sake look to them. The original of anything always has classic value to it. I mean those are the graphics that first got me hooked.

Only problems with the sounds are

a.) I can't always get the music/sound effects to play because I don't know what sound configuration to use with this Pentium computer. (A problem I have with most DOS-based games I play on this computer).

...and...

b.) Even when I do get the sound to work, it doesn't sound the same as it did on my old 486. Sigh.

Hey, I LOVE the original 320x200 Civ Graphics! The music was superb for it's time, too. By the way, anyone know if I can pick up some sort of Civ Soundtrack somewhere?
Only problem is, it took me two years to figure out the settler was a wagon and not Bozo the Clown :O I'm not kidding, either!

LOL i first got to play Civ 1 on a commodore amiga (128)........................telling u nothing beats that 'ol 8 bit computing feeling ! I play cpu games since i got papererboy on my 'ol vic20 (dayz of waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayback)

A game like civilisation shows that u don't need fancy graphics or sound to create a excelent game. The fun is all in the gameplay.

You too, huh? I just conquered the world yesterday. I think I'll go for the space victory this time (I like it's ending better :) ).

Ah, BlackFluffyLion, so we meet again!

Of course we love the civ graphics! Come on how can't you like it when you see a covered wagon creating a city in the 1900's or even better 2000b.c! Don't you wonder how they can make all those WHEELS for them with out THE WHEEL tech? hmmm Makes you think don't it?
