The Age of the Galley: Mediterranean Oared Vessels Since Pre-Classical Times

Hello, here you will find my completed naval ships for this time period.

The thread itself is only for discussion of completed units. If you want to discuss other naval units not yet posted please visit my thread on the main creation page.

Currently I am not taking requests for this time period nor am I planning on doing many at the moment. I am doing this for stico who created all these wonderful models and has put up with how long it took for me to finally do them. I will occasional add ships as I complete them.

A special thanks goes out to stico and Ares de Borg for all their help in making these units.

Update: Third galley uploaded. First two galley's updated. Also included is two death sounds. One made by stico and one made by Ares. Choose which one you like.

Delta_Strife, thank you very much for animating these wonderful ships. Now the "Bavarian" galley is available for Civ 3. On a first view on the unit with Jasc Animation Shop, it seems, that the arrows attack is next to not visible. I soon will test that animation in game.

These are great ships and it would be very fine news
IF ...

you would consider to enhance your sailing skills even more and close the gap from these to all your fine ships from late 19th century.

I was first thinking on ships like CSS Alabama or USS Kearsage for a time-period between the Frigates and your protected cruisers.
Some early steam ships are in the DB today, but not this type of fast raiders which could fill a nice role for an upgrade of lets say some early privateers with hidden nationality.

The Merchantman does look weak when being attacked by the Sea Peoples Ships in game.
