The AI and Rituals

I've noticed that for quite some time now the AI has not built any rituals. I know that they used to be able to, because I remember them "casting" Purge of the Unfaithful all willy nilly, whether they needed it or not. So I can understand not allowing them to build that one. But some of the rituals are always good; Blood of the Phoenix for one, or Genesis. Right now I always get to cast these for myself, which is pretty powerful. If they could be enabled for the AI on an individual basis I think it would be worth going. Especially if the AI prioritized Genesis after the Blight hit.

I agree with you. I cannot recall seeing an ai civ cast a ritual in Shadow. They are always available there for me to cast.

I guess you couldn't tell if the ai Elohim did the Hallowing or ai Sheaim did their Elegy, though.

Genesis is usually a long way off for me in my games following the Blight.

Honestly, I don't cast the rituals too much either. I did Nature's Revolt in my current game and the results were pretty disappointing - just a few Lions, Tigers, and Wolves.

It seems like there are other things to build that are higher priority in my games.

in my current game i cast natures revolt, and it turned the tables of the game quite dramatically. i was neighboring the Clan, i was sidar, and of corse there were lots of barbarian cities around, but the clan built Rathus (or whoever thier hero is) and started taking over the barb cities, they expanded insanely fast, and with no complaints from the barbs. eventually i cast natures revolt, and all barbs became animals. this meant that the clan could no longer go around taking over barb cities, as they arnt at peace with the animals! they had also reached the second continent (i was plaing on the random map where everyone starts on one continent the other is barb central). anyway, the clan took Rathus to the new continent and had taken a couple of barb cities, but because of natures revolt they could no longer do that. i effectively stoped their expansion. they soon dropped from the third rank to fifth and i overtook them, soon winning a towers victory by snagging some much needed mana in the new world.

Great strategy! I loved reading that one.

Yes, if you build Nature's Revolt and there are still plenty of barb units on the map, it can be very effective.

I wonder if Genesis works against apocalpyse at AC = 100.

Works how?

It doesn't affect the AC as far as I know.

As Armageddon approaches I am busy getting units in my queues as I am about to lose most of my army. I don't think I would be worrying about getting a bunch of pretty tiles. ;)

Honestly, I usually have a unit that can terraform my civ the way I want it, and I don't build Genesis as it changes things a bit too much and not the way I always want it - e.g., too much grassland!

So, here's a question: if you had a Neutral or Evil civ with plenty of hell terrain and built Genesis, what would happen? I never saw that before.
