Greetings everyone!

In my second post-patch game, I drew Egypt on a very heavily jungled and forested Small Continents map with Russia, Caesar, Sully and the Incas in one of my Future Era start games. I've been involved already with two wars, one against Sully allied with Cathy and a quick war with Caesar. The only winning condition is Domination. 8 Civs total with 8 CS. Info Addict is the only mod and I have 2 GGs with a few Artillery, Bombers and mostly MIs. The map settings are all Random, including Resource balancing. Disable Start Bias is on. The only Civs Friendly to me are Arabia and Russia. All the others are Guarded.

While Cathy is taking the Ottoman capital, Caesar pops up, telling me his his backstabbing me because he wants to re-evaluate our friendship, and 4 turns later, as his troops are crawling through the woods and jungle, I hear the whirring of something I've hardly ever seen let alone used:

To me, the AI definitely seems a lot better and with the extra diplomacy factors, although it's not like Civ 4 (I wish it was), keeping a strong relationship with good trading seems more important than ever.

When I saw Caesar announce he was backstabbing me, I admit I was pretty excited. He has the #2 military in the world and I am #3. I never expected to see that GDR and I guess now I have to expect anything.

It's going to be a very interesting game and I am curious to see what else the AI decides to throw at me.

Has anyone witnessed Naval warfare yet? I've been waiting to play on an Archipelago map with Denmark, France, England and Polynesia for a while now.

I have yet to see one single Nuke overhead. My last game pre-patch was as close to a Global Thermonuclear War as you can get. I know one of the new things in this patch is the AI not building nukes unless they want to use them but seeing this GDR instead of an ICBM was a welcome sight. Now I just have to stop it. I'm building 2 right now just in case.

I had seen GDRs before. The AIs built them if they had uranium but not the Manhattan Project. They are pretty tough to take down, either you nuke them, you spam rocket artillery, or you surround them with mech infantry and modern armors and attack at once, from my experience.

I didn't mind nukes now and then, but finishing games became a chore when you knew exactly what was going to happen with your nearest neighbor the second that the proper techs were researched.

Pretty exciting to have GDRs come though, yeah.

Interesting, I tend to have a blitzkrieg of giant death robots by endgame, fighting enemy gdrs would be a unusual experience.

UPDATE: In that same game, the Incas were attacking from the North with GDRs, SAMs, Artillery and MIs while Caesar was attacking from the South is throwing Artillery, Bombers, and GDRs at me. I have 6 GDRs, three on each front and my Battleships and Subs are taking down transported units as well. Absolutely awesome stuff! They both crawled to me for Peace. :D

But now the Incas are moving Artillery and GDRs via Navy but my Battleships and Subs are watching them closely and I have Artillery at the coast just in case.

One thing that I liked that I saw is when I chased down two Roman MI units with a GDR, they backed up and attacked from the left instead of the right, only to run into ANOTHER GDR. I'm on Friendly terms with everyone except the Inca. Even Caesar after a long, bloody and costly war is on Friendly terms with me, out of respect perhaps?

Catherine loves me and is doing just about anything I tell her to. Arabia and Monty are unusually nice because of my constant trading with them. I haven't enjoyed Civ this much since C3Conquests.

Top 3 Military:

Caesar
Russia
Egypt (Me)

I'm just about #1 in everything else :D

given that they went from costing 1000 hammers to 425, it isn't surprising the AI likes to build them more.
