To be honest, Spain, Hungary and Poland all deserve to be in the game.

In my opinion, so do the Byzantines, Austrians, Vietnamese, Thais and others.

Plus of course all the Civs that were in previous games as well.

Even the Kurds who have never had a nation to call their own have had a distinct culture for over 4000 years. It'd be nice to see them in too.

Hopefully they'll have a wealth of new Civs in the expansions.

I agree with you, save for the Kurds/Byzantium. Byzantium is an extension of Rome. I agree that they should be in. But all these threads moaning about nations that didn't make it in make me spiteful(God bless the Hungarians for having selfcontrol)

I agree ... maybe I should start one thread  about Portugal not being in as well. if the Polish and the Spaniards can, why can't the Portuguese ? :D

[/sarcasm]

Because of this Do you prefer the Shongai to Poland? (Warning: i'm not responsible for any brain damage if you read this thread )

And yes, Shongai decisively trashed Poland in a duel :)

P.S.
Petition to firaxis to never include Poland in any civ game ever again

P.P.S.
Poland.
I think they are an especially important nation in the modern era -- and should have a militaristic trait.:lol::crazyeye::cry:
Honestly, France, Germany and Russia should be barred from the game in place of Poland.

And then the op argues with a Civ V lead designer that it's actually very easy to add Poland and it doesn't take that much development resources :crazyeye:

awesome links :goodjob:

Charles Martel:
THAT is precisely the assumption I am objecting to. Things that no longer exists (or even that never existed) can, and often do, have present qualities or properties. I am willing to concede that non-existing things may lack intrinsic qualities (such as having intrinsic shapes or sizes) which they necessarily lose the moment they cease to exist. But the property of "sucking" is hardly such an intrinsic quality, it's more like a relational quality associated to an evaluation of some kind. Such relational properties may be sometimes be possessed by non-existing things: in my opinion, Hitler, Hobbits, and Atlantis suck big time, and they do so NOW, at the present moment.

No they don't. They don't exist so they can't suck. Sure Hitler was bad, suck used in this way is slang, but not anymore. What he did sucks. What he represented sucks. Hitler really doesn't do anything anymore. Hobbits and Atlantis aren't real. The idea of them or what they represent might suck but they as non entities can't.

Dale:
This thread is pointless. It was Godwin-ed in the OP which leaves us, the remaining posters, nothing to aspire to. Please close this thread.

Now we have thread nazis.

Sorry Dale, couldn't resist.

:) Too funny.

 .

Oh, you mean the first patch to the second expansion pack of Civ 5 mods out Poland and shuts the game off if you type P-O-L-A-N-D? That's so...obnoxious. And annoying!

Great idea for a mod to make! It's going on my list. ;)

Doesn't bother me. My policy is, "Don't likey, no clickee." Not that I'm thrilled about it either but if you don't like those sort of threads then just stay away. Some posters (not you) just add fuel to the fire with childish insults or trash talking. They'd be better off just staying away instead of making the situation worse.

I think the Kurds having a distinctive culture for more than 4000 years deserve a Civ. I look at them as history's underdogs. Some may not agree but I think it would be nice to see them have their own nation, if even just in a computer game.

Byzantium split off from Rome and was an empire for pretty well 1000 years. To write them off as a mere offshoot of Rome doesn't do them justice in my opinion.

The Australian Aborigine has had a continuous unique culture for 125,000 years. Why should the Kurds get in over them?

Moderator Action: I don't have a lot of tolerance for the trolling & flaming in this thread.

If I was to infract every infractable post in this thread, a large number of people would have infractions, and I suspect several would be banned.

Keep it civil, and on topic.
