The Babylonian Scientists

I'll be able to update today again, so you don't have to wait long to see how this war goes.

Hammurabi was poised to attack Nicaea. His Horsemen would move in and charge the spearmen there. But the Horsemen did no damage, and decided to turn back. Hammurabi would have to wait until he defeated those spearmen. He also moved a warrior onto a mountain to protect a worker from a marauding Byzantine warrior.
war.jpg

Then, the ancient Cavalry attacked and defeated one guard at Nicaea. He would charge again and again til he captured it.
war2-1.jpg

But wait! The Byzantines seem to have another guard.
Another Ancient Cavalry regiment charged. It defeated the guard, and entered Nicaea, not without losses, however.
war3.jpg

He captured the city, and a Babylonian governor was installed, who taught the Byzantine people there how to speak Babylonian.
The people also admired this taking of Nicaea, so they lined his path better. Hammurabi's palace was bigger. Hammurabi thinks that this war is a good idea, as always are his ideas.
war4.jpg

Now, troops march into Byzantine territory to capture Caesarea, a city in the jungle, but it has silks. Meanwhile, Babylonian Bowmen and Ancient Cavalry regiments are poised to strike Trebizond, which is positioned in what should be Babylonian territory.
war5.jpg

The Spearman garrison unfortunately defeats the attacking ancient cavalry, so the bowmen get ready to attack.
It beats a spearman with no losses, and throws Babylon into a Golden Age!
war6.jpg

The attacking bowmen, led by Kel, a friend of Hammurabi's military advisor, decide to attack again. Hopefully, they are not pushing their luck.
war7.jpg

They were. Fortunately, 2 regiments of bowmen and 1 regiment of ancient cavalry were poised to strike Caesarea soon. The city was doomed to fall.
war8.jpg

The bowmen attack, and one is killed. Then the other regiment attacks, and kills the spearmen. Lastly, the Ancient cavalry attack and...
war9.jpg

The city is captured. The troops are promoted for their efforts. 2 regiments of ancient cavalry are also now marching on Trebizond. Also, Hammurabi's scientists tell him that they have advanced to a new era of prosperity.
war10.jpg

His people loved this, so they decided to expand his palace some more.
war11.jpg

Hammurabi is now certain that this war was a good idea. Hammurabi's armies next target was the byzantine capital of Constantinople. It would not fall easily, that is for certain. General Dipterous decided to plan an attack, which is currently top-secret.
Ancient Cavalry regiments also attack Trebizond, with a small amount of luck. One regiment was killed but another regiment succeeded in capturing the city.
war12.jpg

The Babylonians threw parties everywhere to celebrate the soon-to-be fall of Byzantium. They even expanded Hammurabi's palace some more by building pillars.
war13.jpg

A regiment of horseback riders attacked Constantinople, and were all killed. Hammurabi also received word that the German capital of Berlin had finished a great wonder called the Pyramids. Many regiments of Babylonian troops were poised to strike Constantinople. The Surge began. One regiment of spearmen was killed with minimal casualties. Another regiment was killed, and the cavalry marched into the city unopposed, but not without casualties. The capital of Byzantium was in the hands of Babylon, along with the great wonder- The Colossus.
war14.jpg

However, Theodora had ran very soon after Babylonian Ancient Cavalry came knocking at her door, and she reestablished her government not too far away. So far, there had been absolutely no counterattack from the Byzantines. Some Babylonian Ancient Cavalry were marching on Varna, a Byzantine city in the deep jungle.
Hammurabi paced up and down his palace in the middle of the night. He kept wondering if the Byzantines actually had a massive counterattack planned. Then, Hammurabi's military advisor came in and said:
"According to our sources, our military is strong compaed to everyone else, even though we have no iron!"
Hammurabi laughed and said "Who needs Iron when you have bowmen and ancient Cavalry?"
"You're absolutely right, m'lord. But, I have a suggestion to expand our territory further. what if we go after the Arabs after we wipe out the byzantine scum?"
"Ah, I like how you think, Larn. I'll think about this"
Then Hammurabi went to bed.
Meanwhile, on the outskirts of Varna, Hammurabi's troops were beginning to attack. One regiment was turned away, but after an elite force attacked...
war15.jpg

A victory so great happened that Hammurabi went to see the commander of this elite force. The commander is currently being sent to a city for top secret operations.
Note: Woo!
Note over.
Babylonian bowmen are now sieging the Byzantine capital of Adrianople. The first regiment was defeated, but now more are arriving.
Varna had also been captured, and several workers were turned into slaves.
war16.jpg

Also, a wonder had been completed in the great city of Babylon, which would give all of Hammurabi's considerable amount of cities a wall, so that he could better protect them.
war17.jpg

After months of siege, Adrianople had finally fallen to the Babylonian Empire.
war18.jpg

Agum, The commander of that elite regiment, had finally arrived at Uruk to create an army. This army will destroy everyone, or so Hammurabi thought.
war19.jpg

Agum is currently waiting for more ancient cavalry to arrive to be part of his army.
And another byzantine town has been found, which is ready to be captured by Babylonian bowmen.
Hammurabi's military advisor ran into the palace and presented Hammurabi with this news:
"The Byzantines have been pushed off of the main continent! They now only have a small island left, and no cities but that one to add to that."
"Wonderful." said Hammurabi. "Finish them off."
The Babylonian's Golden Age also recently ended, which is unfortunate.
Hammurabi's military advisor came in with news.
"Sire, they are not on an island, they are on something that is part of the mainland."
"I do not care, kill them!"
"Yes, sir."
Later, a new person revealed himself to Hammurabi, Lincoln, of the americans.
war20.jpg

Meanwhile, a long time after that, the city of Ellipi had completed the Great Lighthouse. Hammurabi was slightly please, but also not because they byzantines had not been destroyed yet. The Iron remained unclaimed, but Hammurabi was inching to it. Another settler had been sent, and this one would settle atop the iron.
Well, that plan had been ruined by arabic culture, but this settler was still able to steal the Iron from Abu Bakr's grasp. Soon, Iron was Hammurabi's. Very soon.
war21.jpg

Also, the recent discovery of Invention had proven to be great, and a scientific great leader who shared Hammurabi's name had arrived at Babylon. He would help build the Leonardo's workshop.
war22.jpg

Also, Hammurabi and Theodora had finally agreed to peace.
war23.jpg

Leonardo da Vinci's workshop also had been completed, a year before.
Sun Tzu's Art of War had been published in Babylon. Now every city in Hammurabi's empire had a barracks.
war24.jpg

Hammurabi fimally decided that it is time to expand his empire further, after the Iron Road had been completed.
End of a very eventful chapter.

Ah come on, nobody posts? Tell me what you thought asbout the last chapter, especially about me nabbing the iron ;)

The iron seems to be in a pretty precarious place. You may lose it to a cultural flip or Arab force.

That's why I'm going to bulk up on my defense force there, and send my army there to take the outlying Arabic cities first. And I'm not sure if culture flips are enabled... Curse my ability to only be able to afford 40% science in monarchy. A harbor will be built in the coastal one. After that, I'll send pikemen there. And then I will attack the arabs, once the defense is bulked up a bit. And so far, that's the only source of Iron that I've discoveren on my entire continent, so I'm in a good position here. But seriously, 1 source of iron on a whole continent??:eek:
I have yet to build my forbidden palace, so I think I'm going to build it in a Byzantine city, because those cities are horribly unproductive due to corruption. Wish me luck on the next war. :) I'm also going to bulk up on culture in those 2 cities, by rush building libraries, after the harbor is rush built.

I knew Hammi didn't have it in him to finish of poor Thea.

I always like how civilizations are vertically aligned in continentgames. You often only share your border with your next victim, makes conquest nice and straightforward. Unless you´re in the middle of course.

Well, if that really is the only source of iron on your continent it'll make your conquest of the Arabs a whole lot easier once you get it hooked up and are building swordsmen. Your're lucky you got to it before the Arabs.

Actually, I'll be building maces, because I got feudalism, but didn't think it important to place in the story. I'm at 10% science because I'm moderately ahead and I'll need some cash for all that gold rushin, like the harbor and libraries in those 2 cities by the arabian borders. And the Arabs actually had the iron in their border at one point, which is why you see that Arabian worker building a road on it. wished he'd finished the job, though. Woulda saved me some time. 7ronin, I've signed a peace treaty. For now.

Guess what? It's update time, so there'll be an update again today. The end of the school year is coming, so during summer break, I'll be able to update maybe three times a week, unless I have stuff to do. Usually, my summer isn't stretched too thin, but you might not get an ipdate every week.

Hammurabi decided to trade his knowledge of Invention to other civilizations. He started with Lincoln.
l1.jpg

Then went to Mao.
l2.jpg

He then went to the other leaders, but they did not have anything that interested him. Hammurabi tuned up his science funding. Then, Hannibal came to him with a demand. He wanted Invention. Hammurabi did not want a war with him, and he'd already sold it, and he had built the only wonder that came with it. So what was the harm? He decided to give it to him. This time. After Hannibal fell at Hammurabi's feet, he would beg for mercy, and Hammurabi would give him none. Hannibal wanted to give up mercy for Invention. Hammurabi laughed briefly, and said "Fine. You'll get what you want. This time." Then he snickered.
l3.jpg

Hannibal asked "What's so funny?"
"Nothing... nothing. You'll find out, eventually. After what happened to Theodora, I thought you would beg me for mercy. Ah well."
Hannibal left in a huff.
Later, Hammurabi's people expanded his palace further. Hammurabi also set up an embassy an Abu Bakr's capital, because his troops were not getting through. He would have to sign a right of passage, before the war would happen.
l4.jpg

Another city was founded name Tell Willaya.
Meanwhile, another exploring ship had sunk.
l5.jpg

The Iron Road had also been completed.
l6.jpg

Hammurabi's cities could now produce pikemen and medieval infantry.
Dipterous' Squadron had also been sent to a nearby city for to be refitted into the first Medieval Infantry. Hammurabi would have to wait several months before he could declare war on the Arabs, as they had t sign a right of passage. But, he could wait. Meanwhile, Hammurabi's people planted bushes in his palace garden, to make it look even better.
l7.jpg

Dipterous and his men arrived at Zamua to be refitted and become the first medieval infantry in the empire. They had been refitted and became a powerful force.
l8.jpg

Then, as Hammurabi was sitting on his armthrone, his science advisor burst in and said
"Sir, sir, we have discovered gunpowder!"
"Good. Do we have any within our empire?" asked Hammurabi.
l9.jpg

"We do, we do, but it is unconnected, and it is near Babylon." said his advisor.
"Good. Connect it immediately."
"Yes, my king!"
l120.jpg

The Right of Passage would soon expire, and Hammurabi would have a lot of land. But he would have to charge the Arabian gunpowder, as they had it, before they could start building musketmen. Also, a great writer began to write a Heroic Epic about Agum's adventures. It was completed that year.
l11.jpg

The Gunpowder Road had also been completed.
Hammurabi then declared war on Abu Bakr, and mobilized his troops immediately.
l12.jpg

The city of Anjar was captured. And Baghdad would fall soon after.
l13.jpg

Also, Yamama had been captured on the main front. Damascus would also fall soon. Since Abu had no place to run, all his cities would soon fall.
Damascus had been captured a week later.
l15.jpg

Abu Bakr was pacing up and down his palace. He was constantly thinking about why he had agreed to that right of passage. It was such a stupid move on his account. Such a stupid move. He would be dead soon, but he didn't know it. Agum's army was also tearing apart the west end of Bakr's empire. Baghdad had been captured. There had been no Arabian counterattack yet. Agum laughed to himself as he stormed Baghdad's dry streets.
l16.jpg

Meanwhile, the Storming of Mecca had began. With Ancient Cavalry and Bowmen constantly storming the walls, it was only a matter of time before the city was taken. And...
l17.jpg

Note: I'm getting REALLY good RNG luck this game... I guess that's the benefit of doing a story... and the Babylonians are not even militaristic.
Note over.
Another impressive victory had happened, so Hammurabi wanted to see the commander of this army too. his name was Sumuabum. He was sent to Damascus to create another Army.
Meanwhile, on the Western front, another city was taken by Agum.
l18.jpg

And on the Eastern front, Yamama had been recaptured by the Arabs, but troops were being sent there. Mecca had also been captured by Ancient Cavalry.
l19.jpg

The Arabs were determined to recapture Mecca, since that was their Capital City. They launched many attacks, but they were easily repelled. Medieval Infantry were to be assigned to Sumuabum's army, and he would be arriving in Samarra soon. Then, Hammurabi's people expanded his palae some more, after building him a 3rd floor.
l20.jpg

And eventually, after little losses, the city of Yamama had been re-taken.
l21.jpg

And another victory on the western front, Agum, once again, had taken yet another city. Now only one arabic city remained on the whole western front.
l22.jpg

Meanwhile, Sumuabum and his troops were mobilizing to attack the new Arabic Capital of Basra. The cultural values of many of Hammurabi's cities expanded because of the recently taken Temple of Artemis, and Hammurabi's people loved this, so...
l23.jpg

They gave him a left wing for his palace.
The final city on the western front had also been captured by.. guess who! Agum.
l24.jpg

Then, as arabian troops contine to push on Mecca and contine to be defeated, Abu Bakr seeks an audience with Hammurabi. Hammurabi burst out laughing. "He wants PEACE? And I'm about to obliterate him off of the planet? HAHAHAHAHA! HAHA! You are really funny, Rylen. Tell him absolutely not."
"Yes, sir!" said Rylen.
They learned the secret of education soon after that. The city of Kufah had also been captured. Abu's civilization was all but destroyed now.
l25.jpg

Najran had also been captured, by Agum this time.
l26.jpg

And out of the Blue, Rylen bursts in and says:
l27.jpg

Uh oh. Agum would clean them up later, right now he had more important business.
After his business, Agum had returned to Anjar, which had been captured. He defeated some attackers there, but he would have to wait to defeat the rest.
Anjar had later been recaptured, but Kufah had been captured by the Arabs. And Carthage also seems to have Iron. Sumuabaum had captured Basra.
But Agum had held the line in Anjar until he was defeated by a large amount of Carthaginian knights. Later, Kufah had also been recaptured.
l29.jpg

The loss of Agum devastated Hammurabi, but he wanted to pay Carthage back eventually, but he would sign peace with them as soon as possible.

Erg, knights are a pain to have to deal with. That declaration definitely did not come at a good time.

WOOOO FIRST DAY OF SUMMER VACATION[party]
Hammurabi was troubled.
Hannibal would suffer. But first Hammurabi would have to make a move. He would move a unit to the lightly defended city of Sulcis. The longbowman defenders would quickly fall.
e1.jpg

However, that was not to be. The weak regiment of ancient cavalry that Hammurabi had sent were intercepted by Carthaginian knights. But Hammurabi was not done. He would hold out on tht part of his empire and send reinforcements to attack Carthage.
Meanwhile, on the Arabian front, Sumuabum had captured Medina, the second-last city of Arabia.
e2.jpg

Hammurabi also got word from his domestic advisor that the Chinese city of Chengdu had completed something called the "Copernicus' Observatory." The city of Carchemish had also been captured by Hannibal. This city was vital, because it connected the iron. Hannibal would surely pay. Zamua, had also been captured. Hammurabi was furious. He called in his science advisor.
"I WANT AN INCREDIBLY POWERFUL WEAPON I CAN USE AGAINST THAT TRAITOR, GOT IT?" yelled Hammurabi.
"Yes sir! We shall develop a military tradition right away, sir!" said Aurelius in a tiny voice.
Hammurabi also sent n envoy to Hannibal for peace. This peace offer, Hammurabi accepted, because he was sick of Hannibal's war.
e3.jpg

In lighter news, the last Arabic city had been captured.
e4.jpg

Then:
e5.jpg

The people also expanded Hammurabi's palace even further. Meanwhile, Hammurabi was already plotting his revenge. Bismarck of Germany came to Hammurabi with a deal. A very fortunate one indeed, too.
e67.jpg

Hammurabi needed Chemistry. He also went to Mao and traded him all his gold, all his luxuries, and 3 gold per turn for Metallurgy. He was now on the road to Miltary Tradition and Cavalry. Hammurabi also decided to aggravate Hannibal by moving his troops into his territory and then rapidly bringing them back out.
Finally, Aurelius came to Hammurabi with news,
e7-1.jpg

Now Hammurabi could begin his slow but steady revenge. First, he would sign trade embargos with everyone against Carthage. Next, he would build up a large force of cavalry. Lastly, he would attack. But this would have to wait.
(Sorry for the short update, am lacking time.)
