Which battle in history would you like to have seen from a distance? (happy now?)

None. Being a part of battles is something that I am not inclined to do.


Although I would have liked to see Trafalagar from a distance. Or from a helicopter.

Let me see i can';t remember the name... i chad a book describing various important historical battles but it was stolen

Octavian (Augustus Caeser) defeats Marc Anthony and Cleopatra, securing the roman empire as his, with rome as it's cheif city. (M. Anthony had a thing for Alexandria that frightened the citizens of rome)

Me, I'd like to watch - from a safe distance (the bridge of the Revenge was generaly safe, one may add) the battles of the Spanish Armada campaign. Or else any of Jutland or Leyte sea for more modern battles.

I fought in several infantry battles, the worst being the October 3-4 battle in Somolia 1993. I didnt "like" any of them, but in hindsight they are a part of who I am today.

Theres no battle anytime anywhere I would want to be a part of anymore. I dont even like fighting with my girlfriend!

Nowadays the worst "battles" I get into are in Civ3 games.

I am interested in historical strategy, especially the massive scale armored warfare of the Second World War. Kursk must have been a truly incredible thing to have seen, and survived.

Yeah, especially the scrap at Prokarovka (spelling?) minus the dust - T-34s and Tigers ramming each other and other point blank encounters would be pretty spectacular.

Otherwise, D-Day from a hot air baloon (assuming I'm immune to any gun fire etc)

I'd like to see a battle on the see in the 1600s or 1700s you know with sailing ships and cannons and all that stuff. Would be quite interesting to watch how they fought back then.

Battle of the Talas River, 751 CE or thereabouts. When an Arab army beat a Tang Chinese army on the banks of the Talas River in Ferghana, Central Asia and the whole region became Islamic. Must be an interesting sight, two highly unusual opponents coming up to each other.

Or any one of the lightning campaigns conducted by the Mongols during their initial rampage across Eurasia. In particular when one force under Batu defeated a combined German, Polish and Hungarian army somewhere in E Europe.

Middle Ages: Saladin´s Siege of Jerusalem

Battle of Trafalgar

Industrial Era: Gettysburg

Modern Era: none really, too bloody, too few finesse and real strategy, too mechanized
if any, then Tank Battles with Artillery and Air support

The Battle of Britain would have been so utterly cool to see, as well as Trafalgar.
