The best thing about civ 1 is...

I don't know what you're talking about, Blackblood. The Germans and French are both blue on civ1, meaning they can never be in the same game at the same time. Perhaps you are dillusional, or playing a different game??

Wel that's one good thing because if the gemans played against me (FRENCH) they wuldn't be able to get to O B.C.!

You say that as if you're bragging. But the truth is it never takes me till 0 AD to kill _every_ civ.

I think the best thing about the game, is the way it is so simple to learn and play, but the randomness and actual playing of the game is different every single time you play. It gives you a sense that the game is never "beaten" only a little wounded. It can throw something at you that you never expected and make you learn to react to new things every day.

I agree Dipol. I have been playing CIV1 and 2 on and off for years, but just reading these fora for the past week or so has already taught me lots of new things about the game. Also, I love the way that every game is different and you can never claim to have finsihed, like you can with so many games which only have limited number of scenarios, whchi are the same every time you play. Even if you start off with the same map you gert a very different game. I think that's why this game creates fan sites like this one.

Some might again consider me a madman, but the only thing why I still play Civ1 is
that u can see them building the city. I know it's possible in Civ2 too, but it's
just lot of stupider look.

Hello Good People!

I was going to post a thread like this 'till I found it in the basement of the forums.

I think now what I like about Civ I is its simplicity...you just can't beat that.

Times change, but Civ stands the test of time....

Nice bump CivPartisan. I was just reading through this thread and found some interesting titbits:

Oh, ok. Heard about it. But never used it. On the other hand I usually use the city build trick: open close open close a city and clicking on the construction button until the building is complete. It takes a while, too, if you want to finish (for instance) a pyramide in 1 turn!

Never heard of this cheat/bug before. Genghis K. said he can hurry the production of buildings by opening and closing a city screen and clicking on the construction button... interesting. Does anybody know of this?

Dipolmatic Spy put it very nicely. That's what makes civ1 civ1. Every game is a completely new adventure.
