Is there anyway to build the several of the same type of unit to within one turn of completion? In other words, can you build 10 riflemen to within 1 turn of completion and then have 10 riflemen completed in the next 10 turns?

You can draft in addition to normal building. The drafted unit is avaiable right away. Won't still bring you up to 10 units in one turn, but if you really need the army badly it can help somewhat...

So this was changed from earlier builds?
I never used this strategy because it always felt somewhat exploitive (and because I'm too lazy for the micromanagement involved).
I can't remember if you could do this in earlier builds or if that was in Civ3.
