You assume, however, that all the jungle tiles will be cleared in time for laborers to work them. Given the fact that we now must petition the president for even a single worker to clear these tiles and mine the already cleared ones, it may be quite some time before we have all the jungle cleared.

Certainly an aqueduct will be needed for our town, but constructing it first would provide us with an improvement that will likely not be needed for a number of turns after it is completed. However, a harbor would begin providing benefits immediately after completion, while our laborers get to work producing an aqueduct just prior to when it will be needed for our town to grow into a city.
 
I'm not a resident, but...

A harbor will also help the citizens avoid disease from the jungle while they wait for it to be cleared, since water tiles can then be worked without inducing a food shortage. Working in the jungle is known to be bad for one's health. :eek:
 
Well, we are going to get all the jungle cleared. After that all of them will be mined. Plus our harbor will be built. Talk about good news. It will take a while to clear all the jungle, and to get all the tiles mined. So after all this is done we should be a city by then.
 
war!maybe that barracks isn't so useless, although i would rather produce horsemen
 
War With Babylon!!!

If you haven't found out it...we are at war with Babylon. We are one of the closet towns to the enemy. So we need to talk about sending more troops guarding our city. We got this far, we are not giving up. If Babylon troops get in our cities radius, stay and fight..Don't panick...We will survive....

So shall we get more troops in our city???

We are building a harbor (22 turns) to support the trade AND the War with Babylon to build ships to transport.

We have one spearman in our city. The good news is we have 3 military units by a Babylon border to guard our territory.

We have 1 red shield and 3 blue shields.

Our Treasury has 162 gold.

Our population is 42,000. (Size 2)

Our citizens are happy. (Wonder if they get tired smiling...)

We have 2 workers cutting our jungle.

We also have 2 mining camps.

Welcome to the Middle Ages!! Our buildings have changed a lot...So here is the updated map.
I added a few things like a City Hall.
It is for the Village Council to have meetings. I added a Ball Court too to have some fun. Enjoy!!
 
Balastulin, misunderstood and scourned by the many cities he had travelled through, finally stepped out of the jungle, exhausted and fevered from the malaria which had ravaged him and gazed upon Huntington. The crystal sea lovingly caressed the mangrove swamps around the town yet the people were lively and smiling. Glory upon glory though was the colour which danced before his eyes. Truly, had he found his place?

Mayor sire, I have travelled many of the cities of our wondrous empire and been refused all but meagre rations, sufficient to take my frame beyond the bounds of their city. Today I believe I have found a town in which I may grow old and happy. All I ask is for a small plot on the shore where I may watch the crucible of the sun pour its golden light into the boundless seas. I do drink heavily, yet I have much to offer, not the least those years I spent as a slave, my body broken and my spirit crushed in the barbarian shipyards ere I escaped. Many secrets of their construction I bring with me and lay at the feet of the good people of Huntington such that one day we may rule the oceans and my conscience may perhaps be laid to rest.

What say you, good people. May I count myself a resident? I humbly await your decision.

@Ybbor...I knew it wasn't the right house..*Bangs Head*..I will have to tell the artist to change that. That thing SW of my house is supposed to be a wall..It is for protection for the people when somebody attacks us...my artist isn't really good...I knew the artist forgot to add the flagpole....Looks like I have to get a new painter, or tell hime to correct it.

@FortyJ...Like Ybbor said..were do you want to live?? Got plenty of houses....

Your dedication to our town is beyond compare. It gives me great pride to call myself a citizen of this town.

I apologize for not letting you know sooner, but I have carved out a little slice of civilization from the wilderness across the water. While the only way to reach my house from town is by boat, I am not too far away to keep an eye on things. In fact, from my front lawn, I have an excellent view of your mansion. ;) (ie. the small patch of land E-NE of the Mayor's Mansion)

If I may digress for a second on a matter of business. Please encourage the president to put the workers outside our town to work mining the available grasslands as soon as possible. While clearing the jungle will surely benefit us down the road, we could benefit from the mining much sooner.

Here is the updated ariel view....



I added a few more things like...

FortyJ's House plus a boat for hime to get to the main land.

A Theater for entertainment.

I also added a Underground Protection.
To get to it we take the two get-away boats and sail to it.
Then we all go in it for protections so the enemy can't find us.

And I think that's it....
 
well, now that my house has been straightened out, the flag is up, and i have plantedt a graden, i have constructed a bell tower, simply pull the rope and we will all go to the getwaway boats, and go for protection

Thanks for building a Bell Tower Incase we are attacked. The flag is up too to show the enemy that what country we belong too. Together we are strong. Divided, we are weak..We will never be divided!!! We are Fanatican!!!!:splat: We will never surrender...(Whoa maybe a little carried away....)

Time again for another update....

Our town grew to size 3. (72,000 Pop.)
Will grow in 4 turns.
Harbor will be finished in 12 turns.
We have 3 mining camps.
Workers are still clearing jungle.
1 red shield and 3 blue shields.
We have a spearman in our city protecting it.
Treasury is 533 gold.

Everything else is on the map above if you want to see it.

What are we going to do after the harbor. It will be done soon.

Just a couple of new things...

I updated Ybbor's bell tower like an out post..but still is a bell tower.

Ybbor's garden looks better.

I added some fields in my yard to supply the town with food.

And that is it..for now....

UPDATE ON WAR

We destroyed a city of the Babylons. We lost a few units during some of the invasions. We are still strong yet. No city lost...
 
ah yes, my garden looks so much better now that i've watered it, thanks for the update, along with the bell tower, i don't have acess to my civ computer on the net, so who's watering the gardens by your house? don't you live at the mansion, that's a big walk, when you combine it with watering it AND bieng mayor, if your family isn't doing it, i would be happy to volunteer my time
