The civIII Democracy Game

In CIV3, when you actually mobilize your economy (sometimes several strong AI's will declare war at once), you cannot initiate the production of anything but units, harbors, airports, barracks and walls anyway, so the military advisor really could play the whole turn. During a normal war, though, your idea makes sense. Mobilization is normally a last resort.

Thank you for pointing that out. When our nation moblizes ,the Millitary leader will take over.

My reasoning for this, is that resources are extremely important, and there are many ways of acquiring them. I think it would be useful to have someone whose sole responsibility is to make sure the empire has the resources it needs, as this can make or break a civ. The position doesn't even have to be a cabinet position as far as voting and such, but should provide advice to the cabinet on these issues. They would be responsible for locating all sources of coal, for example, and posting possible ways to acquire it, whether through might, trade, or something a little more devious. This person could also provide information on possible ways of depriving the other civs of resources as well (there are a couple exploits in this area).

I agree that the recource's are very important ,though i think that the people's sentiment and the general insight of the member's will lead to the other's Leader's pushing for a sollution ,rather than having a official especialy for this ,who would have no real power and actually not much to do anyway. But illtka my time to decide on this ,and think it over.

And to every new joined member of this game: Welcome ;)

Why not make the rules into a Constitution that can itself be reformed?

Maybe you could have a senate of some kind with a bunch of representitives who are allowed to reform the constitution with a large % of their vote or something. . .

I think that is a good idea. The senate would simply be the entire populace, since we are not talking about thousands of people. The members could vote to add new cabinet positions, or to switch some duties around, etc. I think this may have already been an aspect of the CIV2 democracy game. I think it would also be good to allow a citizen who disagrees greatly with the actions of the cabinet or a member of the cabinet, to be able to call a popular vote, and need like 75% to overturn the decision.

I might play. The other version looked interesting, so i'll try this one.

Another thing ,we need to form the first Cabinet.I will let people appoint themself's for the first cabinet position's.i won't take a position ,as i'll be the mod of the forum and again i aint got CivIII installed.

Anyway ,eyrei ,choose a position if you want ,ill let you be the first to choose.

Anybody can appoint themself's for the first administration that will play the first 20 turn's ,then ellection's will be held for the new cabinet.though know that there are some requirement's for some leadership position's.Understandably one must have CivIII installed ,and some leader's need a screenshot capture program.

There is already a constitution for the civII game ,i am reworking it for the CivIII version.

In the civII game ,reformation's are decided by the ruling cabinet ,i think this doesn't really need to change ,but that's just an oppinion though.

Cool. Thanks. I think I would like to be Domestic Advisor to start. It will be fun to 'play' a game without actually playing it.:D

Agreed. I rarely shift to war mobilization unless I am threatened seriously.

I like the idea though that if war mobilization is required, and the President/cabinet should make that call, then it is in effect a marshal law environment and the Military Advisor should take full control of the economy, city production, and war effort to ensure continuity of effort.

But mobilization is as you say, a matter of last resort.

I would like to volunteer for the position of Trade Minister.

To that end, it may be wise to elect a "Senate Majority Leader" type position to fill the role of representing the masses. Specifically to ensure that polls are not rerun on the same issue constantly, and to see that apporpriate attention is given to the will of the general assembly when that 75% number is reached on a given issue.

i'm not real sure where you guys landed with the cultural advisor, but i'll take the position. at first i considered the borders a major part of the position, but clue me into your final thoughts

I'd like to take part and taking a position in trade. I;m only at regent leval and still afirly new to the game though (2 1/2 months) so may be a deputy possibly? Anyway its up to the people :)

I'll join... I would like to be Military Leader.

Great that this is soon a Civ3 game... always wanted to play the Demo games.

Wouldn't it be fun if the Demo game was included in the MultiPlayer edition of the game?

With ingame chat's, everyone can see what's going on, change of player whenever there is need to.

And so on... I think It qould be great!

Same thing with Succession games... The game will be automatically sent to the next player.
... he gets a message when he Starts Civ3 and is connected to the Net, and by Mail.
The game can be added different Variants at the Start of a Succession game, many taken from this Forums and so on...

That would be REALLY Great!

If I'm ever gonna do a Civ clone in the Future, it would sure include those abilities!

I think I'd like to be a part of it. Not sure of all the ways to get involved yet, but it sounds like fun.

Can we revolt and throw out our existing government or would that get too violent and chaotic? :p
