The Corvid Nation: A Spore AAR

The Corvid Nation

---

The Book of Kaida II Line 205

The emperor stepped down his golden throne to the Validites and said unto them, "Our word comes from the Divine Danielle Herself! What you speak is sacrilege and thus you and your people must be put to death." And so the emperor slashed the throat of the heathen emissary.

----

The emissaries cowered fearfully in the presence of the mad emperor towering over the dying emissary. With his sword still bloodied, he pointed her blade at the fearful gathering.

"Bring word to your leaders that the Holy City will not be bought out like a harlot. This is the holy city of all Corvid and cannot be bought with material trinkets! NOW GET OUT!"

The Holy City went into full gear preparing for war. Rallies were held, industry went into peak capacity, every able bodied Corvid was conscripted into the Imperial Academies.
corvus-41.png

Soon enough, a vast army was ready to lay waste to any that would oppose the Emperor's Will.
corvus-42.png

The first target was the city responsible for even proposing a buyout of the Holy City. Although small, it was better in the eyes of the emperor to kill the baby before it grew into an adult Humorless Baxtar.
corvus-43.png

The Imperial armies rolled towards the city with the Emperor at the helm of the advance.
corvus-44.png

There were no negotiations. The Emperor screeched out the order to lay waste to the city.
corvus-45.png

The city hardly gave any resistance and surrendered to the Emperor in person.
corvus-45a.jpg

However another reason that the Emperor invaded this city was it's status as a port city, allowing the Corvid nation access to the oceans from the landlocked capital and furthering the Empires influence.
corvus-46.png

However there were still the other cities that backed the proposal. The Emperor would be more forgiving to them.
corvus-47.png

"Chancellor Roden! You insulted me with your offer!" the Emperor called out, "However I don't wish to waste precious money on artillery shells so I shall me merciful! Come out and kiss my ring and I shall make sure you live the rest of your life as my court jester!"
corvus-48.png

The Chancellor came out, overweight and barely able to walk after consuming enough to feed his starving citizens 2 fold, "We don't have to be enemies you know! We have anything you could indulge in! I think 'His Majesty' would prefer the company of some of our finest young boys! Barely hatchlings, might I add!" performing a mocking bow before struggling to regain his balance with the help of his starved servants.

The Emperor's eyes widened with rage at the insinuation, spinning around and gripping the firing pin tightly, "FIRE!" he screamed.
corvus-49.png

The city fell easily to the Emperors will and he prepared a special punishment for the Chancellor, mutilating him until he was unrecognizable to any creature but keeping him alive on display in his throne room until he died of infection 5 months later.

The final threat to the Holy City was the last independent city on the continent. With territory on either end that could threaten access to the Turin Sea, it was decided to act immediately.
corvus-50.png

"President Pakot! Come out and kiss my ring!" he hollered. Several minutes passed but no one showed up.
corvus-51.png

"FIRE!" he screamed back at the artillery, all firing in unison.
corvus-52.png

After capturing the city, one of the soldiers discovered a hidden bunker that contained strange technology.

"Witchcraft!" the soldiers cried out. The Emperor raised his hand to still his soldiers, "Please, my brothers. This is only complicated engineering that can mimic flight. Bring it into the Black Wing Labs for further investigation."
corvus-52a.jpg

With the continent in complete control of the Emperor, scouts moved to develop the regions abandoned by the old cities.
corvus-53.png

The scout roamed around the region, noting the familiarity of the volcano for some reason.
corvus-54.png

However the scout stumbled upon an unusual ruin.
corvus-55.png

----------
SCOUT LOG: 204.3

Encountered a strange ruin in the new territory. Doesn't look like an enemy ship. There are signs of age but they would mean that this wreak has been here for thousands of years.

Notice strange mark on the front. Something used to be bolted on the front. Shaped like the Plaque of Domiel.

Just opened what looks like the cockpit. Strange giant skeletons inside. Not any creature I've encountered. Knee's bend forward, teeth instead of a beak, eyes positioned forward. They seem to be wrapped in some kind of dull fabric. Looked almost shiny at one point.
----------

Suddenly the scout heard a terrifying roar outside. Between the tree's, he saw a monster.
corvus-56.png

The army mobilized as soon as they recieved the scouts frantic call. Under the Janus Act of 3021A, the army was obligated to destroy any creature large enough to threaten a city.
corvus-57.png

It was a hard battle, with numerous units losing their lives to the monsters attacks.
corvus-58.png

Soon the monster was defeated, at the cost of 1/4th of the entire standing army of the Empire.
corvus-59.png

As the medics tended to the wounded and a camp was set up, the Emperor walked to the ruins and gazing upon the empty area where the Plaque of Domiel once was bolted on. Summoning a soldier to his side, he whispered urgently to him.

"I want this entire region cordoned off. Relocate any villagers that are in the area, saying there's a plague spreading. Wipe out any village that has a villager refusing to leave, saying that the village was destroyed by the plague. I don't want this discovery to come out ever least it weaken the government legitimacy."

Years later, the Emperor died and, in an unprecedented and unusual act, anointed his young daughter Kaida XIV as his successor. There had never been an Empress in the history of the Empire but all concerns were swept away after she lead a national 10 year plan that saw the Corvid nation turn from an agricultural society with basic technology to a highly urbanized society with the highest technology on the planet.

Looking down from the Imperial Capitol Tower, the Empress gazed upon the sunset through the skyscrapers and commuter air traffic.

"Your Grace," General Turna quietly whispered, "I think we've extracted as much technology from the UFO as we can. Perhaps it's time we tell the people about the discovery."

The Empress kept her gaze, her claws rhythmically tapping the concrete balcony railing.

"All in good time, General. The people aren't ready for this yet. None of us are." she half turned to look at the general. "It's not everyday we're given solid proof that our entire religion was essentially a lie. But we cannot tell them now. Not when it was our religion that was the driving force of our entire evolution.

"The Prophet Domiel fought the tribes on the Tar'Kress Plains, my father fought the surrounding cities, all because it was our religion that drove them. It wasn't religion itself that accomplished all that, but it was the inspiration, and that can mean all the difference in the world. No, I think we'll keep up appearances for the peoples sake but we'll covertly introduce the idea that we were the escaped science experiments of Danielle Barkowski PhD onboard the USS Endeavor piloted by Captain David Scott.

"Now, my love, come comfort me... My heart is heavy all of a sudden..."

End of Chapter 4

What is that red tank when you're attacking the second city, a defender?

I love the WW1 theme with the tanks and uniforms :D

Are you using some kind of cheat to get around the part-limit? I can't imagine being able to add so many parts, especially for the uniforms shown in your pics...

Nope. I think the part limit is based off the part limit on the creature itself. I only put legs, arms, eyes, mouth, wings and a few feathers. Those that get considerably more complicated than that won't have much clothing parts to use.

I just finally saw the last few pics due to my connection problems - those skyscrapers are amazing, and I see your aircraft is similar to the crashed spaceship you found :)

That would make sense. In the later stages, I've either had multi-limbed monstrosities or species with lots of 'decorations' on them.

Epic tale leonel! I am still trading and allying with the Covid's in my space stage as the "spotted wobbit's",Nice reading their history. They are my best friendly empire...
P.S please take a shot of the Corvid's epic launch into Space.

World History, Second School Edition

In 3920A, Hugh Jarden, an astronomer born to a lower class family with a father that worked in a factory and a mother that died in childbirth, he had already accomplished much in his short life before he lost his battle with Dorvakine Disease. Naming the planets of our solar system, Placus and her moon Ferndy, Lyguinstei, Raquulus and Javer, as well as identifying the composition of Placus' ring system. Despite the opposition by the Holy Church for renaming the planets, the scientific community as well as most of the world have accepted Jarden's theories and naming conventions.

----

As the Empress grew older, the army gained more and more power within the upper echelons of government. Soon the Corvid Nation had amassed a grand aerial armada.
corvus-61.png

The military were believers of the fanatical militarism that Kaida XIII advocated. The generals had set plans to establish beach heads on each off the other three continents.
corvus-62.png

The leaders of these cities were simply overwhelmed by the might of the Corvid's new airships.
corvus-63.png

However the Amelixt Nation saw the Corvid Nation running wild on the planet and sought to stop their empire building.
corvus-64.png

Obviously threatened by Amelixt's deceleration, the generals eliminated their armada, which was the most powerful armada in the world.
corvus-65.png

There was no mercy and every unit was chased down and destroyed.
corvus-66.png

However the Janus Act was still in effect and the generals destroyed another monster.
corvus-67.png

As suddenly as the Great War started, Empress Kaida XIV died. The world mourned for the last and only hope for peace on Placus and with no known heir to the throne, a military coup took place and took control of the nation.
corvus-68.png

With the Empress dead, the generals proceeded at a rapid pace of conquering the world as well as try to suppress a growing rebellion.
corvus-69.png

Many war crimes were committed and any resistance was met with brute retribution.
corvus-70.png

As hard as the other nations tried to defend themselves...
corvus-71.png

They found themselves continuously outnumbered...
corvus-72.png

And their resources plundered.
corvus-73.png

There was no stopping them.
corvus-74.png

The Amelixt capital was easy to capture.
corvus-75.png

They found the Amelixt leader cowering in a bunker under the city and paraded him in the Holy City for all to mock.
corvus-76.png

However the rebellion that had stirred over the years had grown to the point where the soldiers gave up and joined to overthrow the generals.

And as the generals cowered while the doors to the throne room were being rammed down by the revolutionaries outside, General Barclay stood defiant with sword and pistol in hand, ready to meet the revolutionaries head on.

As soon as the doors swung open, the torn down statue of General Barclay the revolutionaries had used as a battery ram was set down and the throne room was flooded. However there was no violence as the crowd gathered around. As soon as silence settled in the throne room, General Turna stepped forward, clothes resembling that of a guerrilla fighter and carrying an assault rifle.

Barclay's eyes opened wide with rage, "Turna! As you couldn't become any more disgraced! You associate with these rabble!"

Turna slowly approached Barclay, "General Barclay, if anyone is deserving of disgrace, it is you. You who abused this nations people and usurped the Holy Crown.

"I know you poisoned my love, my Empress. And now the nation cries out for your blood as retribution!"

Barclay made a sweeping motion with his claw, "SILENCE! I AM THE NATION! If it weren't for me, the nation would have disintegrated into barbarism without a leader! And with me gone, you don't have a legitimate heir to the throne!"

Silence descended upon the throne room again except the clattering of tiny claws through the crowd. Barclay was confused until a small, albino corvid child approached through the crowd. At that moment, the crowd descended onto one knee and put their weapons down.

Barclay looked at the albino child with horror and silence. The albino child simply looked at General Barclay. "General Barclay. You murdered my mother, exiled my father, exploited my people and abused my brothers in the Divines. I have returned to reclaim the throne that rightfully belongs to me. Through the power bestowed onto me by my people and the Divines, I place you under arrest for crimes against the corvus peoples and your own brothers in faith."

As the crowd piled onto Barclay to disarm him, he screamed out from under the crowd, "Spare me your pathetic notion of faith! It was me that united the world! I UNIFIED PLACUS!"

The albino child's face grimaced in displeasure, "I've had enough of this man. Throw him in the same dungeon's he sent so many innocents." taking the crown in his bandaged hands.

Ascending the thrown, the albino child sat upon the seat and carefully placing the crown on his head. A dirty looking television crew managed to squeeze themselves past the guerrilla fighters and focus on the child as he spoke a grand speech that was televised around the world.

Soon enough, the remaining nations of the world willingly joined with the Corvid Nation to form the first Unified Corvid Nation.
corvus-77.png

While the emperor formed the first democratic government in Corvid Nation history and abdicated willingly as the last emperor, he was still voted in as the first democratically elected president by a near 100% margin despite his illness that kept him a small boy forever. With the full resources of an entire planet, he established the Holy City Institute of Science and Technology to research the xenogenesis theory.
corvus-78.png

It wasn't long until the theory gained widespread acceptance and the institute fully deciphered the Plaque of Domiel, discovering the location of their true homeworld from the copper plated plaque recovered by their ancestors thousands of years ago. Upon the discovery that their homeworld was thousands of light years away, the Corvid Parliament put the entire planet's resources to the construction of a starship to reach it.

For 60 years, every Corvid willing made sacrifices to the development of a starship. Even those that still believe in the Divines were driven by their secret desire to learn more about their history. However, the HCIST were unable to develop a computer system powerful enough to manage all the subsystems of the starship. With the radical proposition of utilizing the Corvid brain as the central computer system, Elno Kaida, the albino child who had grown interested in the project and had contributed significant advancements himself, volunteered himself to be sacrificed to run the ships subsystems.

With the ship completed, the HCIST opened up it's huge cavernous structure and launched the Pride of Placus.

Nice story leonel, but how are you finding the conviction to carry on playing Spore? :dunno:

Sadly not so much now. :( I've been currently engrossed with Fallout 3 and more recently Wrath of the Lich King. I'll update my game and the story perhaps later this week and try to bring it to a close.
