The Eiffel Tower and Broadcast Towers

it's super nifty! it can save you having to research a really expensive beaker-wise tech if you have no interest in building the UN. eiffel tower is wicked spiffy!

what i found out today is this ...
NoDrama.jpg

you can indeed build Broadway without ever learning Drama. now that is bizarre!

Yeah you should have at least have to research Terrible Plot, Bad Acting, Lame Music, etc. before Broadway.

Lol.

I always build the Eiffel Tower. Because I always have copper. Screw broadcast towers.

That's a good idea. Broadway requires Theatre. The Eiffel Tower needs Broadcast Towers. Remember! Firaxis Civ4 Admins are not bright at all. They will say, Thanks for your bug report. We can give you nothing. But, we can say this "Ahh, sorry we forgot that, buy a new expansion!. It's included all bug fix"

i was beelining to mass media to get an early diplomatic victory, hadn't bothered with drama. broadway was in my build list and elizabeth kept trying to trade me drama and archery. the weirdness of the situation clicked in my head. "i can build a wonder that gives me broadcast towers to make every 10% increase in culture more effective ... but i don't have the ability to increase my culture slider. that's awesome!" i didn't actually build it or research drama, but i had to pose a screenshot for giggles.

I think the project "Internet" should allow +1:) -1:health:
Porn makes everyone happy but staying up on forums tills 4AM decreases health

Well, IIRC, the Eiffel tower is a broadcast tower, so the bonus makes sense
Actually, it hasn't been built as a broadcast tower. The Eiffel Tower has just been built to prove what we could achieve with steel. Built in 1889, it is the first supertall structure ever built on earth. The Eiffel Tower, which is 324 meter tall (1,063 feet), was then twice taller than anything built in the world before. We had to wait for the Empire State Building 50 years laters to achieve something taller. Still today, the Eiffel Tower hosts the tallest observation deck in Europe.

In 1889, once the Eiffel tower has been built, radio didn't even exist. It's only later, considering that the tower was already there, that it's been thought it could be used as a good radio transmitter.

So :
- No, the Eiffel Tower isn't really a broadcast tower.
- Yes, it makes sense to be able to build it before inventing radio, as that's exactly what happened in the real world.

I don't mind that it makes broadcast towers available before they're "meant" to be. That's partly what makes it worth building in the first place. But...

If it's made from steel, why do you get the construction bonus from copper and not from iron? :(

Eh, sorry. I've been away from Civ for a month.

A good fix to this problem is.

1. Make it that it always give the Culture Bonus.
2. The Radio in all cities bonus is only applied when you research Radio.
