I started off playing FFH then moved on to FF. I've spent much more time playing FF than the original MOD. When FF development died down I went searching for a new place to go. I have settled on RiFE as my new definitive version of FFH and civ4 for that matter.

I know you have announced plans for Civ 5 and, either way, I'm sure that you won't develop this mod forever. You guys have aready pushed the limits of this game so far. I'm still really excited about all the upcoming features and improvements that have been mentioned, but I am wondering if you have an end planned for this mod. Do you plan on finilizing all the changes and stablizing one final ultimate version before you move on?

I personally would love to see RiFE as the pinnacle of all the hard work that was done by many different modders who contributed to FFH and it's expansion, so it would be nice if development reached a final vision as opposed to just kind of slowly dying off with all kinds of unfinished plans and unresolved bugs. Of course, I would never expect anyone who isn't being payed to resolve every little bug, but it would be nice if a final version was realeased that at least had all mechanics funtioning properly (eg, immortals, etc...).

This is not a demand. It is a question/request. Either way, I'd like to say thanks for the endless hours of fun provided by the FFH and RiFE modders, and all the other modders who's work was brought together in this mod.

We have a firm design schedule, specifically to achieve an end-product. This coming patch is 1.3... The last major version will be 2.0 (barring bug fixes). Several MAJOR steps before that.

So no, we will not leave RifE unfinished and buggy. ;) The next version should actually fix the vast majority of bugs, after which it is mostly a question of implementing the new features we have planned.

Yes Rise from Erebus is steadily growing and we have final goals. We want to make a polished product out of the game that is ours, but still Fall from Heaven.

We also want to make our Civ5 project but it won't mean we will abandon RifE.

We are fully committed to completing Rise from Erebus.

That's great news. All the hard work you all have put in deserves to be pollished when all is said and done. Thanks.

Man, I hope I can get the money to got Civ V soon so I can join in the awesomeness that is the more tactical combat and the things to come from the RifE team. +_+

That said, I'm really glad as well to know that RifE will be completed as dialed.

Yep, it will be completed. After 1.3, each patch is quite focused (though of course there will be feature creep... Airandamar, for instance. :p) and should come much faster. I believe our schedule goes up to 1.7 or 1.8 before jumping to 2.0. ;)

Pretty much has to be polished, seeing as the only thing the Civ V mod has in common with RifE is the fantasy genre.

So the Civ5 mod will have a totally different story/lore/etc?

Yay for wild speculation!

Yes it will not be anything close to Fall from Heaven. Except that it's fantasy.

I can't see Civ 5 being exceptional, so RifE should be around along time :)

With a nice finished product, we will be able to go back and enjoy RiFE for years to come.

However, from what I've seen, I'm very optomistic about Civ 5. The core game changes are things that I've wanted. Hex grids and more strategic battles are great improvements in my oppinion.

Most importantly, though, is an improved framework for the game that can utilize the power of multicore processors and hopefully creates a more stable environment for the modders to create something more amazing than even these wonderful civ4 mods.

True, true, Sid rarely let's me down, multi core would be awesome, and Alpha centauri is the greatest thing since TNG... but Civ 3 was sooooo bad... we'll see :)

So it's fantasy...

Up to now I was convinced "Eden" was referring to the Eden Project and that you were planning on reworking civ 5's flora, but that could hardly be called fantasy.

So perhaps you're going to create fantasy plants? Like the briars in Sleeping Beauty?

Perhaps they'll continue after this mod's name and continue rising; instead of an awakening world descending into hell, a hellish world ascending into Eden.

Maybe... Rise of the Dire Hamster for Civ 5:crazyeye::yup:
