Consider the GOTM5 on Monarch level. Unless you are expansionist, it would be very difficult to break out of Washington's penisula. By the time you knew where the good lands were, the French would already have claimed them. As the expansionist Americans, this position becomes somewhat playable.
France was still busy expanding and consequently weak. I stumbled on them very early, and knew the entire strategic situation by 3300bc. This is an optimal opportunity for a Warrior Rush. Even if you lose the rush, you will probably not be immediately threatened, as the French don't even know where the American capital is. There is everything to gain and little to lose. This is the root of ambition. America has a manifest destiny, and the French are in the way.

By the way, my warriors are already on the way to Paris. Once there, a final decision will be made. If there is a spearman nearby, we'll probably return home. Meanwhile, the warriors still protect Washington by offering "screening" protection as they cross the mountains.
