Don't worry, people. I'm still alive. I've just been distracted. By lots of things. All of which endeavored to make me focus on non-civ3 things. But I've gotten rid of most of those (At least, the less amusing ones....

), so I should hopefully be back to updating this.
And so, without further ado!
Part X
Not One Step Back

Bhyu Parliament, Albinthene, Bhyu
The debate within the building had been raging for days now. Well, raging may not have been the best choice of words. Even in a time of war, the Bhyu kept their serious and somber manner. Had one not payed any mind to the actual words being said, it would appears as little more than another particularly divisive act. But underneath the calm and politeness, Prime Minister Yamato could feel the tension, bordering at the breaking point. Up until now, Bhyu had done little more than stand on the sidelines of the war, providing nothing more than air support, and the occasional infantry division. But with the reports of Iustitia's success on the field, there had been a growing voice amongst the populace to increase Bhyu's participation in this war. Now the decision had come down to this final vote. It took all of Yamato's will to stay silent as the fate of his nation was decided. He had already given his speeches, spoken his side of the debate, and tried to gather up support for increased participation in the war. But now the final decision would be made by other men.
The votes were cast, then quickly tallied. The act barely gained the 3/4s majority it needed to pass. Yamato finally let himself breath again, though there was one final obstacle before the armies could march forth.
The paper was then brought to the front of the room, where the king sat. In theory, he had the power to veto any bill passed by the Bhyu Parliament, though no king had exercised this power in centuries. Even so, Yamato couldn't help but worry as the king glanced over the paper. Then, with a few quick strokes, his name was signed. It had been made official. A field army of Bhyu tanks, as well as 5 additional tank divisions and 2 infantry divisions, would be sent to the frontlines.

Minor Impact Site, Outskirts of Austin, Omegia
The hill really made a nice view of the surrounding area. From the top, you could see green, rolling fields going off in every direction. Emperor Sean had been slightly surprised to find such a place so close to the capital. He had assumed that most locales of this nature had all been taken and heavily developed in Omegia's constant quest for greater industrial might.
It was a shame, then, that the same fate would have to befall this area. From the hilltop, Sean could see the dark scar in the land where the meteorite fragment collided with the ground. Around it, workers were quickly building large and industrial looking buildings and machinery. Up until this point, researcher studying Gaia had relied on getting the smaller fragments that could be collected off the ground. The larger pieces, which had embedded themselves into the ground, had required too much energy to be feasible. But now, based off of the same high powered laser technology that was being implemented in Omegia's new artillery, a more efficient way of recovering the meteorites had been found.
Sean's hand clutched the Gaia stone he had taken to wearing around his neck. Peter's forces had already landed by the Arigosian's research center. Soon, he would control the largest source of Gaia in the world....

No-Man's Land
The Bhyu forces sent to the frontlines had gone there with high hopes for their success. After all, the Iustitians were driving back the increasingly desperate Erebians with minimal casualties. They were already almost at the Tannhauser Gate, and it looked like the war would be ended soon. The Bhyu soldiers expected they would see only a brief glimpse of the fighting before the whole thing was won.
Things went bad as soon as they crossed into No-Man's land. Omegian bombers dropped hundreds of bombs on the advancing soldiers. Helicopters struck the army in quick hit and run attacks, destroying moral and organization. By the time the tanks had reached the edges of the Tannhauser Gate line, over 50% had been destroyed.
The final blow came in the form of Omegia's new laser artillery guns. The Bhyu, despite their reputations for their technological prowess, had never faced any weapon like it before. The lasers tore through their tanks, destroying hundreds before they even got a chance to fire a single shot. When the Omegian ground troops came in, they faced little resistance from what was left of the glorious Bhyu army.

Tannhauser Gate Defensive Line, Erebia
Attacking the Iustitian's defenses had seemed like the end of the world to Bee. Now, the Iustitian's attacking their defensive lines felt like the apocalypse was coming again. For weeks now, the Iustitians had been driving them back. Dozens of failed counterattacks had left the road covered in Erebian dead. They were now making their final stand at the Tannhauser Gate. If they couldn't defeat the Iustitians here, the city of Tannhauser would be open to attack, and its fall, all of Erebia would be open to attack.
Bee desperately fired off at the advancing enemies. He had lost count of how many bullets he had shot here. It was never enough. More and more tanks and soldiers came in, overwhelming the tired defenders. If things continued at this rate, the line would break, no matter how much the cultists roared for not a single step to be taken backwards.
Bee pulled the trigger again, but instead of a gunshot, the only sound that came was a forlorn clicking noise. Out of ammo. He searched through the pockets of the nearby corpses, but he had exhausted that resource earlier.
A large shadow fell over Bee, seeming to completely block out the sun. Looking up, he saw in the sky hundreds of black bombers, with a golden omega on the wings. The bombers released their load, creating a wall of fire around the Iustitians.
When the explosions finally stopped, the surviving Iustitians were falling back. Bee leaned against what was left of the wall of a destroyed bunker, panting for breath. Around him, the pockets of Erebian survivors came out of their cover to watch the retreat. Out of the thousands that had marched out, only a few hundred were still alive.
Another glorious victory for Erebia, Bee muttered bitterly to himself.
