The Game-of-the-Month Mod Scenario

Most excellent. I'll install it after I finish my current game. (In which, the Vikings are orange with pink borders, and the French are pink/pink, and the Ottomans are orange/orange.) Maybe it will fix things.

I'm contemplating a medival rush on one neighbor civ to gain territory. If that fails, I may be ending early. <grin>

the full installer provides an identical setup as the sinlge installs. If you have a running gotm setup, the full installer will not give you anything different.

I haven't heard about problems with indistinguishable civ colours in the gotm mod scenario.Every civ gets a default colour and a 2nd colour as preset in case the first is used in a game by another tribe as default. For example, when Rome is in the game, Babylon is blue, without Rome Babylon is red. I would think there are some crossed settings (a default colour of a civ is another one's extra colour) so that with certain combinations of civs there are some colours used twice. I will have a look at it, but it will probably need another update for the gotm_mod.nic scenario file to change that.

Scenario updates will still be posted in this thread. Right now, the full installer just give you what is already available. It's advantage lies in the much easier installation: it needs one installer to be dl'ed, one installer to be executed. That's all. It's very useful for newcomers and when a re-install is to be done, e.g. because of a re-installation of Windows which happens frequently to Win-users, as you might know.

It's true that there's nothing in the single installer that isn't in the separate ones, but it also overcomes the many small hiccups that can hit you when you use the separate installers. Extracting Spain .flc files from folders, forgetting to install the latest pediaIcons.txt, installing the add-ons in the wrong order, or into the wrong directory ....

Well. It works great.

I installed Civ3 on my laptop. Upgraded to 1.29f. Installed the mod. Swapped resources. Now I can play on the road. Its not as fast, and the screen is smaller, so I'll probably play with a smaller map and fewer civs. I just need to remember the CD when I grab the laptop and head out.

I hope Civ4 has a better copy-protection system. (Like none.)

Thanks. This makes things so much easier.

Oh, and my medival rush worked. A couple of cities to the west are mine and they are close enough to the FP to be productive. But, my neighbor to the south nailed me good just after entering the industrial age. I wasn't prepared enough and his two stacks of cavalry are overwhelming. I'm doomed.

I'm pleased to hear it worked for you. Sorry about the cavalry stacks. :(

Ooops! Sorry, forgot to include the wide screen and CPU upgrade in the installer :mischief:

Another great reason to get a Mac :D

I just have updated the first post. The old message is still available via the link at the bottom of the post. I hope it clarifies the current state of GOTM Mod and Scenario. :)
