Yes there was. The direct connections are slight, but they are both clearly part of a larger fabric. To say they are distinct is to say that Disney is completely seperate from General Motors. You can even plausibly argue it it, but its not true.

The only thing Disney and GM have in common are that they are businesses. Using that logic, Bush, Hitler, Washington, and Kaiser Wilhelm are the same. So are the United States, the Soviet Union, Vietnam, and North Korea. The extent of Iraq/bin Laden relations was a mutual hatred of the US.
