You can trust me.... I'm a banker....
You will find uses for it soon enough. You can spend it directly on entertainment (your citizens will start getting unhappy and need cheering up), and on speeding up your Science research (look for the two slider bars when you press F1).
It will also start getting chewed up by corruption, unit costs, and maintenance costs on some of the buildings you construct.
The Science advisor ( the portrait is modelled on Sid Meier) is like a true research scientist, he is NEVER satisfied with his grant and will always keep nagging you for more!

yeah what the heck is with that science guy? i've had my science pegged at 100% all the time, and he's been whining at me for more! as far as I understand it, I can't give him anymore, unless i turn the populus into scientists. I can't give him money directly from my treasury, can I?
The science advisor is ironically a moron. Don't trust anything he says.
