Once a year everyone should try to get out of his home for a week or more and spend his/her time somewhere else, to meet new people and see something different. Canadians do it by moving from one appartment to the next, most normal people do it by going on vacation.

This is probably my last long summer as a student (we have 3 months of vacation in Austria) an I am going to Norway next week, and will travel around Scandinavia for 4 weeks until I take a flight to London to visit my cousin for a week or two. Summer should never be different. Taking all your money, spending it to the last cent on youth hostels and supermarket food, while never staying longer than two days in a city.

I know I will have to take some crappy job to get some money afterwards, but it will be worth it!

Now, where are you going to? What's your favourit masochistic pasttime? Where will you go this summer?

I'm sort of with Gredius in this (without the "hostility :p ). Vacations take both time and money. I'm have an extreme defecit of both.

My one "week" (in quotes because I don't get it all at one time) "vacation" is spent on repairs, yardwork, and other necessary things that have been woefully neglected for lack of time. (There's that time issue again!)

I dont know what Canada this is, but I must admit I do not fall into this stereotype.

Hey, when you're in Norway, remember to check out Trondheim... best city in the universe :D

I have to agree with Thadlerian, ever since Krypton exploded. :scan:

LOL @ Greadius. I know what you mean, man. Its even worse when you run your own business. :(

But more power to ya', test_specimen! It sounds like an enjoyable trip. Enjoy it now, because one day you'll be bitter and hostile like the rest of us! ;) :p

I am already expecting that I won't have that much free time, after I got a job. But right now I have to make the best of those holidays. The problem is, that I have all the time in the world, but no money. When I have a job I will have enough money, but no time.

I won't be getting to Trondheim, it is too far north. I'll be going to Goteborg-Oslo-Bergen-Stavanger-Stockholm-Hamburg with a hiking trip through the Hardangervidda (10 days). I've only got a month, so the number of places is limited. In some cities you have to stay for more than one day, to see some of it (especially Oslo and Stockholm).

So no one except Speaker will go on summer holidays? Not even a week of Greece or Turkey? Come on.

Greadius said it. I haven't had a free day in the past three months. The days I was supposed to be free, I was swamped with family and meetings to attend. I miss the days of high school summers. Hell, I wish I could be 6 years old and enjoy everyday :)

I'm going to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon for a few days next week. No 40 degree (C) weather, no massive forest fires. Looking forward to it:cool:
